In fact, remembering back (mid 80s), that weekend jaunt to Southampton was quite an outing. We initially drove from Low Fell to Burnham on Sea in Somerset, where we stayed at the house of a mate's dad who was working there. The journey down included a tyre blowing in Goller's Vauxhall Astra on the M4 at 125mph ffs it's a wonder any of us are still alive!
Oh ****, I remember now, we drove back to Burnham on Sea after the game. I think we were involved in a pitched battle with the locals later on...such was the 80s
I got done by the police once because on a minibus we were driving through the town and I shouted the word “abuse” out of the window at a policeman. He took the reg of the vehicle called the driver and then they had to identify who shouted the words. I was 16 so he couldn’t do anything but at the time he didn’t know that. I got a bollocking for shouting abuse at a copper but I actually only said the word. Mental.
He's not going to get banged up on a over the limit routine stop. ****ing hell bring back the brazen bull
It's "Five and drive" ain't it? In all seriousness, daft boy and should be punished. Would some on here be as casual if he killed someone? I've cut people out of cars after the result of drink/dangerous driving and there is no excuse for it. Glad nobody was hurt, hopefully he gets his collar felt and doesn't do it again as he seems a decent lad on the pitch and is an absolute machine
Aye. I mean even if someone had had 1 pint and under the limit. If you knocked someone over and killed them you would always wonder (after wrecking not only their lives but your own) if you hadn’t had that pint would you have killed them.
If found guilty he will get a long ban. everyone makes mistakes and needs to take their punishment. Lots of players, celebs etc drink drive and get busted so I hope Joe isn’t singled out for special treatment by the media over and above what is the norm.
Jimmy Savillle ffs. I mean, why would you? Imagine if a mackem had a pic of Adam Johnson, say. Same thing init.
For me it’s all fairly simple. 1. He’s been stupid and thoughtless. 2. As to how thoughtless and stupid depends upon the reading. A. He should be punished by the Courts in accordance with the level of the reading and what, if anything, happened due to his driving. B. The Club should also take action to make it clear that this type of behaviour will not be accepted and again base it on the level of the reading and what, if anything, happened due to his driving. Lots of people do it but that’s no excuse and he should be aware that he is a role model and has responsibilities.
