It worked. See. Nathan looked up in the stands, thought where is TIOON7 and they put in a performance like that. This one’s on me guys. And Tom. We took one for the team.
It makes so much sense playing JWP as a CM/CAM. His energy means that he is our best ‘presser’. If we want to get in the oppo defenders’ faces then Prowsie is the man. Shame Ralph didn’t try it more. A midfield trio of Lavia, Alcaraz, and JWP is pretty damn exciting.
Diallo was very good tonight, and I’ve long thought that was his best role, not being the pivot/playmaker at the base of the midfield but more the enforcer/harasser to win the ball back then give it to someone near by. I’d be fine setting up the midfield exactly like that for the rest of the season tbh. Have no idea where Alcaraz fits in in terms of style. Maybe in the JWP role but more of a creator, and can’t see Jones dropping JWP anyway
Thought that was a fantastic result. I did not buy a ticket based on recent performances but that was the resut of the season for us.
I had a really vivid but very unrealistic dream last night that we beat City 2-0 after pressing them into submission in the first half and then defending so well 2nd half they didn't manage a single shot on target. I know, total fantasy.
Still absolutely buzzing. Can't recall the last time I was so hype from a match. Wonder how many tickets we'll ask for.
Bit annoying we got Newcastle in the semi. They’ll be determined to win any trophy this season, and they’re probably the best side left in it anyway.
Hopefully the club only allow those with purchase history or we'll end up with loads of Geordies in the home ends. I'm thinking of going up for the away one but depends on what allocation we take.
I promised to try and take the boy this year (even before the draw) Hopefully they'll not be dicks with the allocation
It's a hard one to judge for the club imo given the distance and the fact we never play there midweek. Would like to think we could sell 1500-2000 though. Would be nice for the club to put on some free coaches etc
I can't remember if I said this when the QF draw was made, but I always felt it was much better to draw City in the QF than the SF or get them in the final. The chances of us beating City over 2 legs are minute and they'd put their strongest team out for the final. Now we've got our best shot at a trophy since we got to the final in 2017.
I have still never been to St James’s. I need to put that right before I die, not sure I fancy it on a school night though. What’s Munse’s latest incarnation, maybe he’d put me up for the night?
No, it doesn’t. Though all the indicators were that he was. Hence why nearly every fan and pundit was reacting as they were. I’m very keen to eat humble pie if he carries it on though.
Yes, I'd much rather hold my hands up and admit I was too quick to judge rather than the alternative. I really hope we come out fired up on Saturday. There's absolutely nothing to fear about Everton.
