Hopefully that will be where the recruitment team comes in, the problem we have as supporters is we will never see enough football to pick up on potential players, yes there will be some players that we will come across at this level that we think would be decent, but had any one picked Ross Stewart as a top striker for us to sign.
I remember when we first signed him there were a couple of posters suggesting how **** he was.
We have made some exciting signings of late but if I'm honest I'd never heard of 90% of them till they signed.
If Stewart does leave we will all speculate as to who we should sign, I just very much doubt we would ever predict who it would be and further more probably wouldn't of heard of them anyway

Well KLD has categorically ruled out splurge spending, so that will not be happening!

As for Ross, I imagine he'll be off if there is a proper, serious offer put in, unless clubs are waiting to see how he comes back from his injury. We'll just have to hope in that case that they have the situation covered, which in fairness they have been pretty good at for a while now, though this will be a big test of the recruitment set up.

Ross might only get this one chance to set himself up for life. He was probably earning lower than many of us when he came here, so standing in his shoes, you can see the attraction if say Everton came in for him and he gets a 3 or 4 year deal on Premier league cash.

Love to see him stay though.

I wouldn't blame him at all. my only worry is that he'll be lining up against us next season because Everton are ****ing gash with Lampard in charge

I dont agree with the 'more often it ends up as someone like Grigg', that was before we had this recruitment team in place. This recruitment has found some quality players and I have no doubt they'll continue to do so. Brentford is a great example to look at, they sold Maupay then replaced him with Watkins, then sold him and replaced him with Toney. They sold Watkins for a decent amount of money then they used that money to bring in Toney as well as several other quality players to improve the overall squad. Thats the key, if we sell some of the players you mentioned then we have to ensure the money is used to improve the team/squad with real quality - I trust our recruitment team to get that right

That's the $64,000 question isn't it? Got to admit, I'd never heard of Ross Stewart when we signed him. Had never heard of Kevin Philips either. At least we have a decent Head of Recruitment in Stuart Harvey

He comes across as giddy as **** when talking about them. And seems to take pride in upsetting SAFC fans. He may not be a “mag” per say, but he definitely loves them

howling before the Twitter “sack the board” meltdown or the “Donald is still running SAFC” brigade get their heads up
