Brentford have really scoured the foreign market aswell, for cheap unknown options. All seem to be decent players. It's a market that we can't tap in to because we couldn't afford the flights to be arsed looking.
I sincerely apologised to my lad last night for him following in my footsteps, being a QPR fan. I have no affiliation with London or the shepherds Bush area. Born and raised in Leeds. I first saw the name 'Queens Park Rangers' on the old vidi printer, on Grandstand, at the age of 6. I have supported them ever since!! If only my mother had taken me out that day!!!
I think many of us have had that conversation with our kids. Thing is, it toughens them up for real life, understanding that most things are **** and you have to relish the minor victories along the way. Imagine if you'd bought him up as a Man City fan, he'd be expecting glory and easy street every day and wouldn't cope nearly so well with heartbreak!
Poor bobmid Jr At least one of mine had the sense not to be swayed by me He had a short daliance as a man u gloryhunter Now he has no team just likes football
Since his debut in 2014/15 he’s played with Barnet, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Hampton and Richmond, Portsmouth,Wigan, Swansea and Bournemouth. He is now 28 He’s played 311 games ( inc England ‘C’ and Jamaica senior ) and scored 76 goals. Not a prolific striker by any means he averages a goal every 4.09 games So doesn’t look to be the 20 a season striker we need which unfortunately also means we’ll buy him so he can average 11.5 goals per season !!!
According to the Official, Charlie returned following the expiry of his loan spell, having only managed 3 appearances for Colchester United (League Two) after moving there in August. To be fair, I don't know whether he's been injured but, if he can't cut it at that level, he isn't the answer to our problem.
Ah ok sky quoted that we’d recalled him so went with that, I’ll go with your loan ended as from official.
I read somewhere Charlie Owens has been out injured for most of his loan spell with Colchester from last August, and was sent back to QPR because he had still not recovered. The Manager there liked him a lot and was sorry his injury problems were stopping him develop his talent, but at 25 he was no use to them and probably not for us either.
That's my point exactly though. 2 ****ters we've bought who are lucky if there League 1 standard. We got mugged off by Charlton by paying too much for a bloke who had 1 decent scoring streak and then we payed an undisclosed fee for Kelman who had scored 6 goals in 30 odd appearances for Southend. Neither of these had a proper run in the 1st team to see if we could develop them or not. We've released Bobne losing 2 million in the process(more fantastic business), and Kelman has scored 4 goals on loan this season so far in a weaker league. The recruitment has been nothing short of scandalous.
Could just be lazy journalism but... https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/01/09/complete-opposite-of-morelos-rangers-tipped-to-sign-2m-bully/
"Dykes scored 12 goals in 33 games for a mid-table Livingston during his one and only full season in the Premiership back in 2019/20" What does that say about the quality and level of Scottish football.
If true, at this moment in time, £2m for Dykes would be a decent bit of business: he hasn't really progressed at Loftus Road. He was worth a punt but, with £2m in our pocket, I think we could find a better prospect. Certainly, the goal tally for his replacement could hardly be much worse. Could it?
Agree we'd be daft not to take the money, but my concern is whether that money would be reinvested in new players, or if it would disappear into the abyss that is paying off debt...?
