I think the fans have revised their standards since flirting with relegation last season. Most followed Bielsa blindly into oblivion, only waking up from their trance when Marsch took over. Now, when they see a piss poor performance, they're jumping all over Marsch, whereas it's mostly Bielsa's players who are under performing.

Listened to Hays podcast this morning and he explains why the price is so high. You may nor agree with it mate which is a fair enough but we need to sop in this market rather than the over priced UK, Ben Brereton Diaz type market because to improve we need to be in the 35 - 40m market. Plenty of pundits also saying he is a great fit? And should save us this season. If not us he will be in the prem this season and double in price by the summer

750k to 35 million? I’ll ask again. What has he done to justify this massive increase in value? I’ll be honest and say I’ve never heard of him before now

Seems to me this is one of those if and when deals. If he plays so many games.. If he scores so many goals... If he represents his country at senior level for so many games.... When he is sold and if he actually does sign and most of all why?

Not sure about all the complaints about the quality of our defenders. You'd think that a good manager/coach should be able to drill a back four into an effective unit given enough time.

1991/92 Title Winning Squad (defenders & appearances)

    Sterland (31)
    Newsome (10)
    McClelland 18)
    Whyte (41)
    Fairclough (31)
    Dorigo (38)
    Whitlow (10)

Don't think any of those are remembered as top class (maybe Dorigo).

Maybe Rennes are thinking we got a bit of a bargain with raph, and are getting their own back ;)

Good football by Oxford. Lewis Bate looks like their playmaker, everything goes through him, he is neat and tidy and always looks to play forward.

Disrespectful to our title winning back 4 that.

It's a different game now and Fairclough and Whyte struggled when the backpass rule came in. Saying that both Sterland and Dorigo were two of the best attacking fullbacks in the country at the time and would walk in to our team now if they were in their prime.

Fairclough and Whyte were very good defenders in their own right and played well as a pair. Lots of appearances for major clubs in top division with Whyte losing his place to a young Tony Adams and Fairclough playing at Forest and Spurs.

Not sure what your agenda is here but the back 4 of the 90's as a group or as individuals are better than we have now.

Even the reserve defenders knew their jobs. More than could be said about the current lot who can't even trap a ball most of the time.

We must have the slowest right back in the top two leagues in Rasmus. Honestly he is painfully lacking in any speed and Ayling is still faster.

The agenda is to refute your assertion that all our defenders should be sold.

A decent system that suits them and the team as a whole they'd be fine in my opinion. Not world beaters, but able to get that goals conceded per game average way down.

Wilko simplified things and our present coach might want to consider learning from that.
