McCarthy KWP* DCC Lyanco Salisu Perraud Prowse* Lavia* AMN Edozie* Adarma* I'd go with this. Anything other than full strength and it could get messy. * indicates players that should be taken off before 60 mins if we are losing.
Jones saying that Orsic hasn’t played since the World Cup so won’t be rushed into playing until fit. Makes me think that Orsic will be on the bench at best, on Wednesday.
How can he deny that we've been playing long ball!? We've all sat and watched the same awful games. That's literally the only thing we have definitely been doing. I can't remember the exact number but believe it was more than 70 hoofs up the park in the Forest game alone. He's also deluded if he thinks style of play won't be an issue so long as we are winning. If we continue with the same style but start picking up points and move away from relegation he's right that most people will be happy, since avoiding relegation is the only thing that matters right now. But once we are out of trouble, style of football does matter and the crowd will turn if we continue in the same style beyond it being a means for survival.
Yes, this is not going to endear him to Saints fans, I mean with Claude Puel we were top 10 and went to Wembley but his percieved "dull" style got him the sack through crowd pressure I believe. Style is everything, fans want to be excited and watch fast attractive football so i'm a bit concerned by his mindset.
TBH style isn't everything right now. We need results and I think fans would be far more forgiving if we could put together a few positive results.
I would start Bazunu. Being younger and more flexible he will be better at picking the ball out of the back of the net.
Style was definitely part, but people do forget the absolute cliff edge in performance from the previous season and it was definitely the beginning of our decline, he lost the job because he was being judged against what Koeman managed in the league the season before. Will never deny him the cup run though!
He lost the job, at least in part, because the board allowed themselves to be influenced by a bunch of entitled ****ers who roundly booed a manager and team which finished eight and reached a Wembley final (which we were unlucky to lose). I’m still angry about that, as you can probably tell; the mob mentality of football supporters should be the last thing anyone listens to when it comes to making reasoned decisions. Not re-appointing Hoddle after he got sacked by Spurs, is another example.
For those umming and ahhing about going, today is your last chance to buy before tickets go up by a fiver. Lads will need all the support they can get for this and we could end up with a famous win that's spoken about for decades. If you can afford it and are already considering it then stop lying to yourself, buy your ticket, and get behind the team 'Mon you ****ing Saints.
Sadly I have a work meeting tomorrow evening, otherwise I’d be there. It’s annoying and a relief in equal measure.
Fortunately I have plans in Brighton tomorrow evening so I have an excuse for not going. That said, no chance I was buying a ticket for this anyway. I made the mistake of buying one for the Lincoln game and at least the silver lining to the awful football was the win. Awful football + high likelihood of getting thrashed doesn't really appeal.
