Add to that some players spending too much time in the gym, for example Sessegnon bulked up way too much in the offseason so, while he might not be as waiflike as he was a season or two ago, he's also nerfed his own speed
I just don't think Emerson and Sessegnon are very good and that exacerbates any issues we and they have. There's no standout attributes either of those two possess that make them a worthwhile option to our side or worth changing the system to accommodate for. Perisic and Doherty at least bring something to the table and I'm no huge Doherty fan either but he does have a knack of finding space via underlapping runs to make himself a threat in the box as well as taking players away from attackers. I also don't think Perisic has struggled to create chances, our conversion rate just needs improving, even marginally would make a significant difference and that could come from simply Richarlison and/ or Son remembering how to score goals. He's 8th for crosses and 11th for chances created in the Premier League so far and he's not started 6 games. Funnily enough (and somewhat annoyingly perhaps?) ex-Spur Tripps is well ahead for crosses at the moment, 27 more than second placed Ward-Prowse, he's also 2nd for chances created with to no one's surprise de Bruyne being top. Very good season so far him at Toon, would probably be perfect in this system.
It's nuts that Ward-Prowse is second for crosses, despite playing centrally for a **** team. I'm sure he gets his numbers up with set-pieces, but he's ridiculously good at them.
Thanks for reminding me! Over half our life time without winning a trophy we won 4 times in before we reached 30! We are definitely overdue
Pat Jennings was the half-time guest v Portsmouth in honour of his CBE, funnily enough. Paul Coyte brought up his remarkable one-handed catching ability, which I doubt we'll ever see again.
That should have been my first FA Cup final attendance... unfortunately I got appendicitis and was rushed to hospital on the Thursday before the game for emergency surgery and watched the game in St James Hospital, Balham! Had to wait another 13 years - and that was two for the price of one!
It’s so nice hearing you all saying you were able to witness it… at the age I was when we last won it, I was probably trying to eat crayons. Mind you, now at 33, I still try eating them.
