So we continue our March on Wembley with the visit of the blue half of Manchester. Having overseen our record away win, in last season’s EFL win at Newport, I approach this game with some trepidation and hope that I am not overseeing another record, of the negative kind. Please, NJ, play with 4 at the back, with KWP at RB and not Lyanco. Lyanco v Grealish or Foden could equal a 2 yellows for persistent fouling or one red card for a reckless lunge (although the positive for the latter would be a longer ban ). Put in a performance that the fans can get behind, play a more compact style of football, similar to the second half at Palace, and hopefully we can be galvanised by our new signing, Mislav, into pulling off a shock result. Maybe Ralph has left a copy of his “How to play against City/Pep” (from last season) game plan, in the top drawer of his old office desk. Lavia back in the middle will want to do well against his old side so I hope he is picked for this one. officials information supplied by Saintosprey. As I sit watching City destroy Chelsea, I heard the immortal line from the commentator, Pep said he is keeping Haaland back so he’s fresh for the cup game in the week against Southampton….oh f***!
Really looking forward to this one. Obviously chances are we'll get trounced but stranger things have happened and I'll be believing we've got a shot until the point we're two goals down. Shame it seems it'll be such a low crowd, sub 22k would be extremely disappointing imo. I know we've been **** and have little chance of winning but even so how can you not get up for a cup QF? Should always be a big occasion for us and who knows it could be our last for a while. UTFS
Yes. This could be the first home game I’ve missed without being actually away for many many years. After Lincoln, BHA & NF, we just can’t muster the enthusiasm A QF ffs! CP has stoked the fire a bit so maybe tomorrow I’ll find myself in the vicinity of SMS.
Can I say I am a loyal Saints fan and a season ticket holder for 40 odd years. I have zero interest in going Wednesday. First time in years i'm not even vaguely interested.
It's not that we'd get trounced (likely as it is) because there's usually always a chance in a cup game. For me it's the fact we won't even try and play against them. I'm not spending 40 odd quid plus fuel, plus time to watch Lyanco hump it to the city defence. Actually scratch that, there's very little chance of that happening because the defence are unlikely to touch the ball!
I’ll also add, I think the crowd numbers will be very telling Ps. I seeThe Sun are doing their usual Wumming Everything that’s wrong with todays papers.
Really not worth £20 to watch a guaranteed slaughter. If the team had an iota of fight or character about it then maybe it would be different, they don’t deserve our money at the moment.
Most neutrals would be happy to pay £20 to see the best team in the World being given a lesson in football by Manchester City?
