With that logic, Jones would have got 2 draws in the premier league

To this analogy, I say that I did too in my last job. And I just started a new job, and I don't have a clue who to ask about anything. If I had a load of people jeering me and calling for me to be fired, I'd be even more lost.

The big question is, will we look back on this thread in a year or two and laugh at ourselves as Jones has led us to the top 4, or will we say collectively "We were right"?

I don’t have the Telegraph subscription but was speaking with my dad and he said there was an article in the paper today where there were 3 analysts who assess managers using some method over a sustained period of time. According to this article Jones is the 5th best manager in the country.

Southampton manager Nathan Jones, whose only previous win since replacing Ralph Hasenhuttl in November came against League One Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, said: "I'm delighted with the overall performance.

"It's been a tough week, but the response has been fantastic.

"We started a bit edgy, but we showed real zest after that and showed the side we can be. We tweaked a few things at half-time and came out aggressively."

There’s the We everyone was looking for

Don't know what to make of this comment ... he comes across an odd guy, I must say.

Tbf to him, we don’t know what exact question was asked or what manner his reply was said in.

The thing is, if you are launching the ball long, towards players that are dwarfed by the CBs they are up against, you can’t play at a high tempo because you are invariably out of possession and chasing the ball.
If he genuinely wants to play at a high tempo then he needs to play with a higher back line and get the midfielders and strikers in the same postcode, so they can then play a high tempo passing game.

    Hopefully someone asked him
“Do you know what you’re doing?”

Stop the long ball. Switch AMN for Lavia. Orsic in there. Another striker. Keane or some other prick for Lyanco.

Nathan Jones’ Red n White Army!!

Think it was already mentioned somewhere but I was pleased to see Che with Jones after the game. Definitely looked like Che had a good relationship with him and I’m hoping that’s the same with all the other players.

Did Jones go over to the away fans at the end?

    Because he said ”****”?

    He has two things in his favour so far;
    1) He can laugh at himself, and
    2) He picks Lyanco

I don’t think he did when he started, but he might at the moment. You could argue that this is justified too, considering how the fans have treated him…don’t get me wrong, the football has been poor so far, but just based on some of the personal insults throw at him here on this forum (which is filled with generally nice fans), he must be getting non-stop abuse on both a personal and professional level on match days…I’d be pretty prickly and defensive too!

I think the criticism has been fair, it’s not just been fans. If we weren’t bottom of the table people might be a little more forgiving.

I’d probably have a chip on my shoulder, if several thousand people (most of whom have never managed a whelk stall tbf) were telling me I’m ****.

Only just seen these, don’t think they’ve been posted yet?

I would be very surprised if SR did that.

I too would be surprised, but maybe a bit pleased by it.
