…. some quality spoof tweets on their from Juan. remember the ‘mo camera deal done’ guy in the summer that had the whole of Leeds hanging on his every word for a week until we signed Adams
I kind of want this to all be fake, I look at Gnonto and we have our 19 year old hot prospect good enough to start in this Leeds team and a bargain. I look at Sinisterra and Summerville also being young and both now have PL experience, we have Rodrigo on form. A 20 year old £34m record signing with poor goal scoring record, a few comments like he has struggled at times and there will be an obvious need to shoehorn him in somewhere when what we need right now is a creative midfielder… If the 49ers are ready to take control and have money burning a hole then fine but this kind of money on a a gamble is not what we need right now
That’s a spoof account, but the story is clearly true. Know what you mean though. I get the sense they earmarked this investment money for young talent in Europe - CDK, gakpo, now this lad. Attacking talent goes for the biggest wonga so sign a hot forward prospect and ‘flip’ him in a as year or two. Seem’s like it was in this year’s business plan and budget to turn 30m into 60m - doesn’t matter if the team actually needs him. This lad seems more of a gamble than the others as he’s younger and less proven than the others albeit in a better league. Having said all of that- from all descriptions he is bang on the profile of the striker type that this side needs... hard working, strong and athletic, can hold up and ball carry.. to get us up the pitch - two footed. It’s that slightly important commodity… goals… that are missing from his cv. To be fair, not many 20 year olds score consistently in the top European leagues - but gambling that he will? It’s s punt no doubt.
So we’re spending around £26-£30m on a hot prospect striker who was worth £750k just two years ago, he scores very few and we’ve also got Gnonto who’s younger, cost peanuts and is a full Italian international. This could break our season (as much as make it), if the pots run dry after this one it’s surely ludicrous. I just can’t get my head around it, is the clue the staged payments, is Radz exiting the building? Take your Leeds hat off for a moment (everyone), if Chelsea were signing this player we’d think they’ve got the cash to burn, they can gamble on someone they might use in a couple of years time. We’re not spending this money unless the intention is for him to start, so who do we drop, Rodrigo, Summerville or Gnonto and what when Sinisterra returns? I’m guessing we’ll cash in on Harrison so if we get £30m for him it would make more sense.
Rich Chelsea have done the same signing the other Fofana from Molde and 18yo Santos from Brazil. I’m same as you on the price as I think it’s a gamble, but there are no cheap strikers who score goals anywhere, especially in January. This is a higher price than it would have been in JUNE. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THIS KID WOULDNT HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE TO Leeds in the summer as he would have been snapped up? Where will he play, well by all accounts he can play 7,8,9,10 or 11. Plays a lot in midfield so hence his goal tally but you can deffo see potential and goals in him when he does play up top
That’s my point, we accept Chelsea doing it as those signings won’t feature this year, they’ve got the cash. We supposedly haven’t and we’re struggling at the bottom, if we’re spending that much he is a starter so he needs to make an impact. Chances are it will take him time settling in, I just feel it’s a big gamble when we could still do with a proper LB and if Wober is that man, our CBs are still poor. I’m just assuming we’re going to have no money left after this one, I hope Orta has got it right
I cannot disagree Rich, it’s deffo a gamble and he must start as you say. But it also still shows ambition so lets hope it’s not like the gambler putting everything on red to get his money back
Looks like there is going to be some movement in the keeping department as this apparently happens this month and if not in June. Seen this and many other posts from Belgium sports journos
Hoffenheim’s director has said more than one team is in talks with Rutter he has been dropped from training and matches whilst he sorts his future out, he has some big decisions to make
This is an older clip which shows how he can come in from out wide or through the middle to create assists with pace and also playing as a striker scoring. Fast feet, power, skill and looks cool under pressure
