Disagree. If we got a point but were sound at the back (which we mostly were aside from 2 individual mistakes) then we would at least think he is sorting us at the back before getting new recruits in. Same against Fulham, 2 goals from **** mistakes on corners. Jones even said they drilled the players on the man on the edge of the box corner - do we just count that as a win because it was 2 mistakes? We should judge partially on overall performances but this early in his reign, and before he has made any signings, it should mainly be results.
0 shots on target against Forest at home is totally unacceptable. We have a bad squad but it should be able to muster a shot against the worst away side in the league at home
TBF we have been victims of some bad luck and desperate for some good luck and I always believe you make your own in football. If we are getting lucky is because we deserve it and unlucky- same.
Agreed, i am not saying it was acceptable! My point was that you have to judge on results and that it makes no sense to not see positives from today because the 2 goals were flukey. We lost against Fulham and Forest and NJ deservedly got rinsed for it. He won today so credit where it is due.
Good to hear NJ coming out and defending Lyanco. I know he's been at fault recently but I fully rate him as a team player and big character. He never hides for better or worse. Really glad he got a win against Zaha after last time. 1-1.
For his faults maybe he is the kind of character we need in a relegation battle? Plus he’s bound to be a positive influence in the dressing room. Sorry.
Why apologise? That's exactly what he is and yes, what we need. I remember the last relegation battle and the fight was all Stephens and JWP. This time around it could all be Lyanco.
The Forest goal was entirely Lyanco’s fault, but he was picked by Jones. And despite a good game yesterday, he seems to be a massive liability rather than a PL starting defender, and he’s starting because Jones is picking him. Ignore the Forest goal and it was still one of the worst performances and show of tactics I have ever seen. Delighted to get a win yesterday and as Jones (I think) has said previously, we needed some luck to go our way, and it finally did. First half we still looked dreadful, but to be fair, second half was probably the best I’ve seen us since Jones came in, not that that is a difficult level to beat. I would love it if Jones proves us all wrong and builds on this win by starting to play some decent stuff and getting results. Not confident but would love to be wrong.
The apology is an in joke, I frequently mention Theo as an important part of the squad because of his off pitch influence. It became very irritating for some on here, but has gone full circle and (I think) is vaguely amusing. The apology punctuates my repetitive slightly juvenile humour. Could Lyanco be a Benali of the modern era? He certainly makes enough howlers.
The tonking of Forest by Blackpool yesterday makes the result on Wedneday seem ever worse. I felt that the result was a good one but the commentary on Radio Solent suggested that it was not a great performance. The two goals were extremely fortunate but hopeully this is a match we can build upon.
Forest changed their entire XI from the team that played us so it isn't relevant. We just had a bad night and one mistake cost us. Any luck for us recently has been in very short supply, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth, haven't seen much in the way of replays, but the JWP free kick looks better each time I look at it, I am not convinced it was all down to luck?
Quite. As usual we're of no value to that programme so hence it is of no value to me either and have not watched it for ages.
No,and I suspect Adam A is pretty pissed that his charge from the centre circle is all down to luck apparently.
When other teams force our goalie into errors, it’s always good closing down. When we do the same to another team, it’s always good luck that he made an error. Yesterday AA made his own ‘luck’ by sprinting a quarter of the pitch to be in the right place to force an error. JWP put a great ball in that the CP defender ducked under to wrong foot the goalie. If you don’t do proactive things to force errors, you won’t get them.
