I’m still hoping Lungi can make that position his own. He was back in training yesterday so could be an option
From his Instagram post, sounds like Hayden feels like he's capable of a lot more than we've seen, the injury-management has really hurt his performances. If the latest surgery fixes his issues for good, and if he's back for a play-off push in March/April, I think he's worth keeping hold of. I don't know if we'll find much better on loan this month.
If the Arabs at Newcastle are paying his wages we will help to rehabilitate him but we bought damaged goods on HP I would rather return him . Murphy looks good though if we can get him instead ?
OK, Dunc. I was over 100° last night but that has dropped to 98.6° this morning. Unlike flu, I have no aching joints, it's just a persistent cough. My wife is going to ring 111 to get medical advice and maybe even a prescription. I'm looking forward to the game, but will watch it in bed on my tablet. COYY!
The GP thought it's more likely to be a secondary infection after the initial chest infection and that the anti-biotics should knock it out. Thanks for your concern though.
Wagner to Webber tomorrow: "So, we need two centre halves, two centre midfielders, a winger and another striker. We can get rid of Dowell, Sinani, Hanley, Gibson, McCallum and Hugill". I'd keep Mclean as back up LB and Hernandez as a plan B/C. Unless he can get him playing how he did when he first came, I'd be shipping Nunez out too. Caught in possession sooooo many times.
Can’t disagree with too much of that although I think McCallum has been largely positive barring his error last week. Hernandez can go, I know he loves the club but he has no end product. Nunez needs time, there is a player there
Can’t see where the dosh is coming from for new players. Wagner may have taken the post with nothing to spend.
Hanley has kept us in plenty of games this season when those around him were falling apart. He has a bad game and !!!!! He had such a bad game and was so horrendous that we got thrashed 1 nil. With fans like some on here, it's no wonder the players confidence is shot. I hope it's not a case of fans getting the team they deserve, if it is then at the moment the team is punching well above it's weight.
I agree. There's always a panic after a loss. Players will make mistakes in the intensity of games. It almost happened to Blackburn when a misplaced ball fell kindly for their keeper with Sinani threatening. They parked the bus and conceded 20 corners while earning only 4 themselves. We had 26 shots, 10 on target while they had 9/4. But for Hanley's error it most likely would have ended 0/0. Their efforts to score weren't any better than ours. The weather didn't help. Let's see what Wagner can do with a full week of training before Preston.
My issue isn't with Hanley as such. I just feel like he is part of a stale squad. He has done well for us in the past, but tonight wasnt the first mistake he has made, that has lead to a goal.
More worrying for me was his reaction after making the mistake, he just stopped and gave up on it. I actually think he’s a decent defender at this level, has a bit of everything without really excelling at anything. Not sure about his captaincy though
