As usual we never replaced him on or off the pitch which is the main problem. Needed to get a fitter younger version of Troy .
Deulofeu to Aston Villa? "Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing former Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu from Serie A outfit Udinese this January transfer window" - which begs the question, why 'former Everton winger' when he has had permanent contracts with both Barcelona and Watford since leaving Everton? https://thehardtackle.com/transfer-...illa-eyeing-january-move-for-gerard-deulofeu/
Gillingham have brought in Kenny Jackett as director of football and there's a familiar face taking on the head of recruitment role. Andy Hessenthaler has returned to the club as part of a new-look back-room team under manager Neil Harris. Hessenthaler's departure from Dover was announced earlier.
Bit like when they seemed to have a number of our former players in the 90s! And then often do well against us .
Gianluca Vialli lost his battle with cancer. RIP https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/breaking-gianluca-vialli-dead-chelsea-28799595
I know his time at Watford didn't turn out so well, but as a boy I enjoyed his Chelsea team and he was a great player. Gone far too soon.
Sad news. RIP Gianluca Vialli. I did not enjoy the possession based football (with no end product) while he was manager of Watford, but he and Ray Wilkins were the wrong appointment to follow in the steps of Graham Taylor and that is not their fault. He brought in a number of well known players who appeared to be only seeking one last pay-day, but he should be given credit for bringing one of the most elegant players ever to represent Watford, Filippo Galli. Some people blamed him for the club's financial problems, but those were caused by the collapse of ITV Digital. The one criticism might be that he chose to sue Watford for more than £1 million in a dispute over the payment of the remainder of his contract (following his dismissal) when the club was on the verge of administration.
One of the most iconic and powerful strikers of his era . Didn’t go well here but still seemed like a good guy who loved the game .
Another goal for Shaq Ford - six minutes in to his first start for York. Maybe we should have kept him here?
Shaq Forde has scored a hat-trick today. 4 goals in a twenty-three minute substitute appearance and one full game for York City. Probably better for him to get regular game time. Not sure how much one should read into him scoring goals at National League level.
You know what would happen . There would be a demand for him to play - then will do and not be “very good “ and dismissed as rubbish and not up to it.
Forde’s hat trick. Does seem to show good strength and power but obviously is quite a step down and the keeper wasn’t great for a couple of goals .
