Relegation being the worst possible outcome for a premier league season, liquidation being the worst outcome for a business. It’s an analogy.
His CV isn’t horrific though. Better than Pelegrino’s yet he was given more slack than Jones. Saints isn’t particularly valuable. A awful stadium next to a cement plant that has played average football for over a century it’s **** to be born here
If you'd just bought a company for £100m or whatever it was, you're not choosing NJ in the first place. That's my point. It's a Premier League football club. Still, if you did mistakenly hire him, you'd absolutely be able to quickly work out that he'd either lied on his CV, or he was not capable of running your company. So you'd either shift him into a different position, or quickly get rid whilst on his probation period. The only difference here, is that (stupidly) football clubs don't have a probation period.
We would only know that for sure if we had recruited a top level coach. If 2 proven managers can’t get the team playing then I would agree. As others have said this team beat Chelsea and have shown they can compete.
I think what Sports Republic fail to appreciate is that they purchased a PL club, and as such they should treat us like one. They didn’t buy SFC through administration or as a league one club with a vision to gain promotion and make it all the way to the PL. They brought a club with a good manager that just needed a significant amount of initial investment to buy better quality players. What should have been an easy enough fix for Ralph to achieve was made impossible. Sports Republic was too eager in their desire to pursue the progressive buying of cheap young players develop them and sell them for as much as possible. Ralph needed more experienced players with just 1 or 2 to develop over time if it was to flourish long term. Sports Republic will learn the hard way that to get promotion from the Championship back to the PL will cost them more in the long term than if they had given Ralph enough money initially to fix the problems on the pitch. Nathan Jones does not have the skill set to develop and add value to any young player that SR has purchased. Managing SFC is too big a job for him, he should have stayed at Luton where he should have felt very lucky that they took him back for a second time.
Second half much better. We actually competed and harried and players wanted to get the ball. Been a long time since we were better in the second half than the first, so fair play to NJ.
Good to get a win. He still needs to be gone. Unless relying on goalkeeper howlers is now a valid tactical choice.
Hard to say. First half we were really bad again. Second half much better. If this was his first game in charge I’d be feeling fairly positive. But off the back of the Forest debacle he still has a lot of work to do to make me think he has a clue
