Saints win, Pompey lose, AA get's his one goal for the season and Shane Long scores for Reading. I ****in' love football.

Decent second half. If we played like that for the rest of the season with a clinical striker we might just survive.

Now we've put palace to the sword in the cup, regaining League form is a mere formality. Probably don't even need any more signings.

Good to see the magic of the FA cup is still alive, where the plucky teams can still get unexpected results :emoticon-0152-heart

Don’t know what to do now. It’s been so long since the last one.
Better performance second half when we played higher up the pitch, eliminating the first half void between our midfield and the strikers.
Doesn’t matter that we needed errors from their keeper to score.
Really need to play this way from the start.

True, but we were better defensively and restricted them to 2 shots on target. I believe that is what NJ is trying to do, be tight at the back and nick goals where we can - because he doesn't think our current squad is good enough to take it to the opposition.

Anyone thinking the players aren't fighting for NJ care to comment? We were poor but showed a lot of aggression and fight. Plus Che had his arm round NJ punch the air in encouragement after the final whistle.

Typical Palace. All over them for the first 15 or 20, should be 2-0 up but Ayew somehow hits the bar when scoring is easier, then a gust of wind and a total brain fade mean we're out. Once again the subs change absolutely nothing, and we look more interested in winning fouls than putting the ball in the back of the net.

This needs to change. Soon.(Palace fan on BBC)
Take out the word Palace and that looks like a meltdown on here.

One thing I will say - fair play to Lyanco - he didn't do all the chest-thumping gorilla bullshit today. He just concentrated and got on with the job, and despite playing against Zaha (who is brilliant, and who Sam Edozie should watch videos of) he looked way better.

This is how I see it as well. I thought at the time of his hiring that maybe one of the metrics used to judge Jones was that he got a lot of success managing a team like Luton who were the under dogs in the majority of their games.

So pleased with this result, it's a real boost for everyone involved. Pressure still there indeed to keep our feet on the ground but gives a breathing space for all of with hope!!
