got a few autographs after or at gigs/concerts. including but not limited to john peel, eddie izzard, petula clark.

Saw some city players in the wimpy in town once, including jobson, askew, and ray daniel. saw paul reaney of tws outside a chip shp in leeds.

was on hols in scotland with a friend and we reckon we saw peter falk and gene wilder in the river ness area (not together).

when hmv opened down whitefriargate, they had a later proper reopening when there was a queue all the way to a counter at the back here ed stewport stewart (there to officially open it) was handing out autographed photos. this must have been late 1977 because i went in to buy mull of kintyre and they weren't selling anything, just having people queue up to get a stewport photo and be ejected out the back door. so, sod it, i went and bought it somewhere else.

i have seen a shedload of bands, so obvs millions of famous people. i used to go to bestabel house behind the college where roland gift was a regular before he was famous, as someone already mentioned. don't remember talking to him but i saw him in a few bands.

kind of knew andy kershaw to talk to a bit in college days. he'd worked in hull one summer and recognised my accent.

mother got a load of autographs at city in the carter years. i remember once we were walking down this terrace and she said hello to a chap in a garden and he said hello. i asked who he was. raich carter.

know a bloke that played cricket for derbyshire. also my dad worked with a bloke who played for hull cc but his brother played for derbyshire.

In my job, I’ve met Wendell sailor, (spelling) Aussie RU!
Rafael & Fabio from Man Utd, very nice people.
Gael Givet Blackburn, very nice person.
Phil Bardsley, complete dickhead off the pitch too.
Christopher Ecclestone, on a flight with him, couldn’t remember his name, other than Dr Who, so couldn’t even get an autograph.
Eric Bristow, but he just wanted a drink.
I’ve. Got autographs somewhere of Andy Payton, Tony Norman, Alex Dyer, probably Swanny too, & a few others that don’t spring to mind, round about 87/88 I think when they came to Kilham, won 10-0!

    Me?

    Plum?

    The 13th Duke of Wybourne?

    Here?

In Olivia Newton John's dressing room, with her in her underwear?

At three o'clock in the morning?

    With my reputation?

    What were they thinking of?

Once had a mad Friday afternoon in the Queens on Newland Avenue with a very drunk Richard Harris. Me, him and my mate sang McArthur Park to the jukebox.

...........and later down Marlboro Avenue. Used to see him a couple of times a week on Chants Ave, always popped in for a chat about football. I was stopping in a hotel in Leeds, opposite the YTV studios for the Ashes Test a few years back. Stood at the lift one morning going down for breakfast and when it opened Shane Warne was stood there with the big Aussie fast bowler at the time and Ricky Tomlinson, I said 'hey up it's my arse'. To, Tomlinson, not Shane Warne, He wasn't too pleased.
Bumped into Anne Widdecombe once in a taxi queue outside Kings Cross and chatted about Hull for ten minutes. Had a night out with Paul Duffen once, I was more famous than he was, but he paid. I've spoke to George Best, said 'would you sign this please'. But when i was suddenly introduced to Nicky Barmby at a friends birthday do I was reduced to a quivering wreck.
Best one though was many years ago when i was filling up my car at a petrol station on Beverley Road, Pete Skipper called across from another pump and said 'Now then Clarky' I loved that.
Just remembered a few more after reading the other posts on this thread. Andy Payton married my cousin. Met and knew Terry Neill through work, got to know Waggy, Chilton, Houghton, Jock McSeveney, Billy Whitehurst, Deano, Roy Greenwood, and loads of the old players through City and by doing a bit with Jeff Barmby for the Ex Tigers, I've actually played against Waggy twice and remember playing against Jock Davidson, not such thing as a friendly with Jock. Had a pint in the same pub (Punch in town) as Jools Holland and the lads from Squeeze when they played the City Hall. Met and had a couple of pints with Barry from East Enders, and John Godber,....'kinell this could go on all day......

My brother met him once, thought exactly the same. I once played golf in a four with Dennis Thatcher, he was perfectly civil but seemed just a bit gormless. Probably does it on purpose.

Met Ricky Gervais and his partner in Bloomingdale’s in NYC about 8 years ago. Absolute gent and his Mrs was lovely as well.

He really couldn’t have been any nicer.

My sister in law bumped into Russel Howard around the same time and she said he was the rudest, most arrogant prick she’d ever met.

    You can’t buy class.

Recently I’ve met Kirk from Corrie = Miserable twat and also Peter Barlow from Corrie = Top bloke.

I also saw Pauline Collins at Donny Station once but didn’t engage in conversation with her.

Loads of footballers and most of the local pop stars, nothing special springs to mind.

Top prize though goes to Simon Weston. Had a beer with him on a train whilst heading home as a young squaddie around 1990.

What a bloke, a Giant amongst Men.

    I've met a lot of lovely,warm,fantastic,famous people...I've been lucky.

I suppose the opposite occurred some years ago at Cheltenham racecourse, the late John Mccririck!! What an ignorant specimen that man was.Huge man with a hugely over-inflated ego.

I tried to engage him in a conversation about an article he'd written in the racing post which I disagreed with,I politely brought it up and he nonchalantly tried to usher me away via a flip of the wrist.

    Wrong move!!

Seen Waggy a few times at the school gates as we both waited to collect grandkids - he'll talk to anybody - especially about his two goals past Gordon Banks!

Also saw Curtis Davis in St. Stephens. He nodded and said Hi. Next day I realized he must have been on his way to the train station when I saw him as he signed for Derby

I think that was an image he cultivated. Probably because he didn’t get involved in his wife’s politics. His war record suggests he was far from gormless.

When I said ‘ nothing special springs to mind’ about footballers, I’m doing Robert Koren a massive disservice.

I got to know Rob very well whilst he was here and he was a top, top fella.

A decent family man who’d go out of his way to help anybody.
