He had a good season at Bolton when they went down. Oxford have actually been pretty poor this season.
A dead horse walks into a pub The barman asks - why the long face? The horse replies - I'm a horse, I'm apparently dead, I'm 'too short' and I've been transferred to Oxford....
They do, just not normally ones that are within approx, 5/9 PTS of them. It's the right decision. If you don't class them as a rival then I'm guessing you don't class those slightly above us as rivals either? 2/3 bad results for us and good ones for them and they jump above us
Boro loaned Spence to Forest last season, clubs even loan players up the league - although that is rare. I don't class anyone as a rival unless we're going for promotion and it's a two horse race - like Burnley loaning Sheff U a player; or stuck at the bottom of the table (Wigan loaning Rotherham a player). Where we are and what we're aiming for this season means **** all. Loaning Fleming to one of those clubs - assuming they want him - would mean they potentially take points off sides we're competing with for the top half, it means he can't play against us so weakens them against us. I think it's pretty small minded to think that giving them Fleming is going to be the difference between them staying up and us going down, when really it's much better for his development to be in the Championship than League One. Sending him to League One just suggests we've made the decision to cut him loose.
Yeah should have clarified my previous comments were on the proviso we actually saw a future for him here and cared about his development. But agree. Sad, given he'd just signed a new deal start of this season.
Hopefully he can force his way into the reckoning come summer again. He needs to nail down a spot somewhere at 23 and 6 months ago if you’d have told me we’d be saying this we’d have all laughed.
His comment about proving some people wrong is telling. He seems to really respect Rosie so hopefully he can bring the best out of him.
Ok, just leave the loan alone, he’s gone to L1, if he goes permanently in the summer, then so be it. At the end of the day, Oxford came in for the loan, got him, because they wanted him, if Rotherham or Wigan get a LB crisis, then they'll be struggling, IMO, great! Right now, they don’t want him, February comes, too late.
Well yeah, as I said I look at it in two ways: 1) We want to keep him in which case it's a rubbish loan and my above comments stand or 2) We don't want to keep him which is a shame after his last season and a new deal signed in the summer but then who cares where he goes
