I agree entirely with this. All of the above for me. Also the fact I was about 18 or 19 when they started with us and going to all the away matches
Len Shackleton, and whoever he decided was going to be on the end of his passes in any particular game.
My dad was there that match and told me about it. Said the noise when his leg got broke sounded like a rifle shot going off and that it echoed around the ground. Bobby Collins ran off the pitch straight afterwards and the referee had to run after him to send him off in the tunnel. He always said that that was the real beginning of the animosity between us and Leeds.
Right. Remember my Dad getting pretty het up about Leeds. I knew how they'd brutalised Bobby Kerr, but had missed that about Sharkey. Maybe we'll get some good younguns through again now the club are taking it seriously. Signs are good if we can keep them.
I'm with your Dad on this. I know most on here consider N/C as the 'Enemy in Chief', but not me. As I see it, they have never done us any major harm, they even provided players for our Cup Winning side. But Leeds have been stain on the game, on the Field and off it. The dirtiest Team ever with a Manager who, according to Bob Stokoe, was not above bribery and Trophies , according to Brian Clough that they won by cheating. Compared to Leeds United, Newcastle are our Bosom Pals.
