I think the scouting should have been done targets identified now it's time for offer and negotiation.
He has won a grand total of 5 headers all year, if Whoscored is to be believed. Not for the first time, I wonder whether part of the issue here is that the play style Ankersen thought he was getting with Jones is wildly different than what we're getting, because we don't seem to be targeting players consistent with Jones' hoofball.
At least there seems to be a degree of urgency about matters. No reason this couldn't have happened 5 days ago but better late than never. I still feel if we have a brilliant window we can stay up. Newcastle did it, albeit they spent £100m and have a much better manager.
We need to hope that this Alcarez player should he come in replicates the form of Newcastles Bruno too then.
You know what, if we'd even attempted to play him in on just half of the runs he made it would have been a different story I reckon. It frustrated the hell out of me that we seemed to have nobody on his wavelength in that regard as he got himself free of his marker almost effortlessly. At least we have that one at Swansea to thank him for though.
To be honest, if ABK is as badly injured as it looked, it may not be a bad idea if we can get him. I know he’s been poor, but at least he’s an older/experienced head. Maybe he can help Theo be the team changing room mascot. Salisu and Lyanco were abysmal against forest, can he really be worse?
