Given the positives and negatives of using polls and voting for things I thought we could decide once and for all whether it works. Please keep this relevant to the question and not linked to anything else.
You didn't expect me to put effort into this did you? I'll link you the seminal work on the pros and cons of governments, should sort this out: https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Government
I actually like the UK democratic system that has a monarchy at the top end where the monarch is an ethical voice that has influence over the elected leader. Never has it been more relevant than in recent years where without it Boris Johnson would have had way too much power.
Yeah there's problems within that setup as well but I'd be more worried if the system changed and the PM had all the power. And it's wine not beer.
If I'm being honest I like the idea of a true tripartite system which on paper we almost are (not actually as the judiciary has no say). The issue is that our three positions of power has two which are utterly powerless (monarch and the House of Lords - who can only delay laws for a month or a year depending on the law) meaning that the one seat of actual power can do whatever it wants provided they can convince voters to keep them in power. We laugh at America but at least they have an actual democracy, we don't by a large margin. That said I preferred Queenie to the President, can see it changing in our lifetimes though.
