Don't necessarily disagree on the system fella but seems there's an element of chicken and egg. Rangnick at man u inherited a posession-based team and couldn't change them... same happened to marsch at leipzig. In theory at leeds we have a high energy team and players more suited to playing this way. And they can. Just not without consistently making errors. Marsch has said previously that although he likes quick balls in transition... and look at the goals we've scored this season from that... the players need to know when its on and when it isn't. Maybe 10-15m players surrounded by others of similar standard typically ping 6 passes in 7 around ok, then give it away. Where 40m players surrounded by other 40m players ping 9 out of 10. I think that's definitely part of the equation. But you watch cooper half hit a pass to a stationary koch v man city, coops head a cross back across his own goal against spurs, struijk not aware who's around him and sticks a foot out for the penalty. None of those really are anything to do with the system. It's basic football/defending. Aaronson last night... has been brought up on marschball, but in any case really its just a simple short pass under little pressure that any side in any formation might make... where he missed his man by yards. Ultimately the buck stops with Marsch... it does with any manager. Looks like we have him for the season, unless he jumps ship to the yank national team, which looking at the figure he's cutting, and the stink witht he current guy, wouldn't be a surprise
It was Jammy. However, alot of our games have been like that this season. We should have more points. I was angry last night. Aaronson looked distraught when West Ham scored from his mistake but its really not good enough from him the last couple of months. He's not scoring, he's not assisting and now passes are going astray. Time for someone else to play.
Yes shaks I forgot about Ghonto! Best buy in a long time when you factor in his age and cost etc! Jury's out on greenwood for me still. For a dead ball specialist he ****s upto many free kicks and ****s them up royaly. Be interesting to see if he's relived of his duties when Wobers on the pitch. He does swing in a dangerous corner, I'll give him that much and i have no idea what position he's meant to be playing anymore so I should cut him some slack for that. So as I said, jury's out
Agree but who are these someone else's. Everyone wants players dropped and replaced. Well see at the weekend exactly what our second string are capable of against Cardiff
Stupid individual errors like what you mention have cost us all season and last, that is certainly down to the players. But just thinking long term and a way out of the mess we're in, a change of system is required, ours leaves us far too open. You watch a game and you know exactly what's coming next, so easy for opposition managers to play against.
And on a similar note, looking at the teams below us, can we confidently predict we would actually beat any of them. I don't think so. Similarly I suspect they would be reasonably hopeful of a win playing us. An indication of how difficult it will be to dig up a further 20 points with this squad
One positive we have so far this season is a vastly superior goal difference to all the teams below us. Last season it was abysmal. That may well be worth a lot on last day of season
Cooper down at Forest is a proper coach and much better than Southgate that’s why I hoped he would take over for England. Plus he knows the FA and England set up after winning the World Cup with the U17s. A lot of teams are finding out just how good he can be in the premier league now. It will be tough against Forest and they are on a much better trajectory than Leeds at the moment
Long but worth a read. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...parents-gregg-berhalter-gio-reyna-family-feud
I think we are better organised this season, which is weird cos Bielsa was a far superior coach. I like the way Marsch has marshalled the troops to get behind the ball, get the bit between the teeth, and grind something out. A year ago, we wouldn't have been able to come back like to did last night.
At the very start of the season, I mentioned Jesse plays a system where we need two players Adams and Roca to do the same job KP did on his own. My angle was injury to either will be an issue, someone else replied entirely missing the point and thinking my post was kissing KPs arse. I think there are a few very good posts outlining where it’s not working and why. The scary thing is we’re just humble supporters watching the game, opposition coaches must be having a field day. Chelsea and Liverpool must be still scratching their heads thinking how did we lose…
