I’m getting the point that Jones has lost 4 on the trot, but has had multiple weeks with the team which the next coach won’t get?
I don't think anyone thinks the players are or have done well or aren't at least part of the problem. But unless we buy in basically an entire new team that can play 5 at the back and long ball football (which we won't) then it doesn't matter if we buy in 3 or 4 good additions to the team unless Jones changes formation and tactics. A back 5 hasn't even come close to looking good or working for a second AND given the fact that the few times we have changed formation to a back 4 and as a result the players looked far more comfortable, like they knew their jobs and as a result we played much much better...and yet we still revert back to a back 5 in the next game. Yesterday we didn't even bother trying to change it to a back 4 until the last few minutes in a must win game. Well. I don't see how anyone can back Jones at this point and expect any improvements on the **** we've been served up so far when he is clearly not learning lessons here and has supposedly been stubborn like this in the past despite the evidence before him. A few new players aren't going to solve that. We need a few new players and a manager that has some hope of playing a formation and tactics that can get the best out of them. Jones aint even close to being that.
I am a crap football manager and I fancy my chances of getting us out of the mess. That is how bad NJ is.
I'd really like a poll on this, just to emphasise the fan feeling I feel a bit sorry for Jones, we are **** and he's not up to it, but at times he comes across as very entitled and and keeps saying 'they', and 'it's not my fault we're in this position'. Understandably his attitude is deteriorating but he's coming across as a bit of an arse now. Jones out, he looks clueless. I think we need to go down and have a proper rebuild. Get some sort of team spirit back over the course of this season, and then push for promotion next year with a decent spine to the team. Don't think Jones is the man for that though, and he's definitely not the man to keep us up.
Got my refund for the City game. This is what Jones has resorted me to. If Ralph was still in charge I'd have gone to the game as we would have a small chance. With Jones we've got no chance at all and I've no interest in watching hoofball.
There were better managers available for free. That’s what’s so mental. Tedesco, Bielsa, Benitez and more all out of work. All fit our style If we want to change our style into long ball merchants like Jones-ball then Dyche, big sam, we could even ****ing try and tempt Roy Hodgson out of retirement for a half season. I would love for the club to say exactly what they see in Jones because whatever it is, they have got it spectacularly wrong and I do not trust their footballing judgement at all now.
How does Benitez fit our style exactly? Plays dull as **** defensive football and not known for giving youth a chance.
Plays possession/passing football. I agree not a great match but I still rate him as a much better appointment than NJ. He did a great job at Newcastle. At least he would garner respect in the dressing room
Someone said that SR made a comment in an article along the lines of they’re prepared to ride a storm of fan anger, in response to their decisions, to stick to their plan? The only way fans can really have an effect is by not going. Not giving them your money. If you really want to make a stand, vote with your feet. I know people love to go to the games, but writing on here and twitter makes no difference.
To be honest, Ankersen should be on his knees pleading to keep his job right now. I don’t blame Solak or SR (in that sense) for this. I wholly blame Ankersen and his bloody data metrics. Solak must surely be spitting feathers.
Disagree on both counts. I don't recall his teams ever playing good football and he was average at best at Toon.
