Very aware I sound fickle as **** after such a short time, but hiring NJ was a catastrophic error by the club. Not that he might be capable in the right circumstances, but we brought in a manager who is completely inexperienced in handling a club in our situation and it has been telling immediately. It is very concerning that the clubs fans are generally making more accurate calls than the ‘professionals’ at the club, all concerns about the summer strategy have proved correct, concerns about the appointment of Jones were correct, failings on the pitch we have all observed have gone unaddressed and continued to be an issue, we all know 5 at the back doesn’t work with this squad and yet another manager tries to play it and all the same problems persist. Deadly serious we need to press the Dyche button, someone capable of organisation. We might still struggle to score but no formation seems to sort that out anyway so at least try to get the defence and shape sorted. Also if relegated which is highly likely now he is extremely good at getting results in the Championship. Hell I’d welcome Pearson back with open arms too.
Pretty stupid comment! From the whole interview I get the impression he doesn't want to play this way, but that with the dross we have, we don't have much choice. Obviously he can't directly say that though! He did say we are close with a few signings, that its down to the board and hopefully we will have good news soon.
Just lost his 4th premier league match out of 4. Zero shots on target against the worse away team in the league, and he’s talking about coming from the Welsh coal mining community. Who gives a ****
I have a friend who is a staunch Luton fan and loves NJ for what he's done for them, but even he was surprised we signed him. He thinks he could be good if given the time but when your team is languishing at the bottom you don't really get the luxury of time
Those players have a resale value as they are young. Ask yourself why Jones was appointed by SR. It wasn't to avoid relegation, was it? Ask yourself why SR bought SFC other than an asset from which to make a profit!! Anyhow we shall see if my suspicions are complete madness between now and into.the summer.
I'm didn't get to the match so not really able to offer much on this apart from my response to the quote by NJ. If, like BHA game which I saw, we literally give goals away, no team needs to create any chances, just wait for our mistakes. So not a great offering from the Manager's insight and analysis there. Poor in fact. What really gets me is the view by those at the match that the players seem to have given up, if that's the case then only one outcome. 20 more games, but cannot afford 1 more like these last 3 that's for sure.
Actually he got all that right. What he failed to mention thereafter was our 5 at the back & long ball / direct tactics failed throughout the whole game. We just don’t have the players to play that style. I’m all for giving everyone a chance but this is 100% plainly obvious SR need to admit their mistake, let him go. OMFG what a **** show, shambles.
Nobody is buying Mara for £12m. Of course Jones was appointed because they thought he would keep us up. It was just an arrogant, poor decision, not a nefarious one. They paid an awful lot of money for the club, and paid off debts. If we get relegated, the club is then worth a lot less. Of course it’s a madness to say it was an asset stripping exercise.
Thing is a lot of these players have performed individually or as a team in the past and at the very least we know they can play better than they are doing. He really doesn’t need to be playing 5 at the back with them, they are defensively weaker in that formation than with 4.
I'm all for giving someone a chance but somehow Jones has managed to make us even worse and unbelievably appears to be more out of his depth than Pellegrino. How he can keep leaving DCC and Stuey on the bench while Lyanco and Mo El keep starting is beyond me. He had the luxury of a virtual pre-season with the players during the WC break and you wonder if they just spent the time on the piss! I'm afraid to say it but he has shown no understanding of the squad he inherited and is playing tactics that will alienate the crowd. I honestly think that we should bail out and bring in a top level manager asap.
Yeah anyone arguing about the money side of things under SR is wrong and they definitely want the club to succeed. However their footballing intelligence is rapidly coming into question.
Only ones that have ever performed well at this level for more than just a good run of form are JWP, KWP & Stu Armstrong. That is why we are dross, Jones isnt helping mind you!
I dont really know how successful they have been at owning teams. Can somebody please educate me on that point?
100% agree with your first 3 paragraphs especially #3. Our limitations are so obvious & can’t be fixed by someone with such limited experience. Not sure about who to bring in but NJ definitely needs to leave. So sad to even write that. What a **** up.
