As we said on a different post I doubt the learning ability of our senior team! May be this is a sign of their quality but the signs of player like Kasami, Briggs, Ruiz, Frei, Dempsey and others is that they understand Jol's tactics. Some others do not. Till the next defeat when knifes will come out about our manager looking forward to the Krakow game! Come on Fulham!
And the other newcomer, Grygera, getting stuck into a certain Mr Nunez. With Dembele ruled out and Ruiz unavailable and Spurs up on Sunday, this game will be an excellent chance for Jol to show what he's made of tactically.
We've flogged this and I think the majority of us are still with Martin. I had to post though after just looking at the league table - that Everton defeat, where we were so close to winning tells it all - if we'd have won that, we'd be 8th ! Say's it all really ! COYW
Very Fulhamish. I've been saying "we should have .." and "what if .." since the cup final. The Wembley one that is. But that's part of being a fan. isn't it?
Part of being a Fulham fan C58! Jol will come good, trust me everyone. He is looking for technical qualities in players. I think this is only a good thing. Come on MJ prove me right.
Jol was very good at Spurs before he was wrongfully replaced by J Ramos, so don't worry, he'll come good.
HI Canary. I would say Jol was good, but rightfully replaced by Ramos, he'd lost control of events, not entirely his fault, but the board were against him, the players weren't playing for him, he had to go, IMO. In turn Ramos was rightfully replaced by Redknapp, and we've now got the best manager of the three, albeit Ramos is the only one of them to have won a major trophy for us.
Jol did a good job at half-time today, and the team came out thoroughly fired-up for the second half. There were individual errors (Riise!!) from players in defence and we didn't make the most of our chances, and the blatant handball just goes down with Nunez as examples of us not getting the decisions. No blame on MJ today, Let's continue to back the manager!
What - Etuhu ????? If we were trying to hold a lead i could just about understand but pushing for the equalizer, never.
Second 1 - 3 home defeat in a row. When, and under what manager, did that last happen? I agree Jol clearly had a very good half-time team talk, but overall, he's not working out, is he? Be honest - in August when we kicked off the season you were probably all harbouring hopes we'd be in the top 7 or 8 with the fixtures we had over the first few months. Instead - reality bites. And December looks very dark indeed. And why do we have a £10 million player sitting on the bench rather than starting? There may be a valid reason - anyone know it - but we are not the sort of club who can shell out that money on a bench-warmer. Unless of course he's just not up to it?
You can dig up my post if you like, but I was predicting a transitional season and a final position of about 12th. You've been very quiet since our last loss (we've won two games since then). And this isn't our second home defeat in a row, did you forget our 4-1 win over Krakow? We played very well today and should've won. Let's not also forget that Spurs are the form side at the moment.
Fulhaman, for me this season was always going to be about retaining premiership status and hopefully seeing us introduce some younger players into the squad. Yes, I would love to us in the top 7 or 8, and if BZ had not missed an open goal against Everton and scored and Friedel had not been in such fine form today we could be sitting pretty in 8th spot with 16 points. There are such fine lines in winning or losing games, especially in the premiership, that to suggest a second 1 - 3 defeat in a row at home indicates we are doing the wrong thing in having Jol as manager is wrong. Today's performance was excellent in parts. There are not many teams that will play Tottenham this season and restrict their efforts on goal to so few. We managed to keep Modric and Parker quiet all game, as for Van Der Vaart, not sure he did anything today. 1 - 3 is not indicative of the way we played. As for Ruiz, his contribution today was a real positive, he looked sharp and his passing was fantastic. We are not managers so are in no position to know what is going on with him. One thing he will need is the support of the Fulham fans so he can get into the team as soon as possible. Keep the faith. COYW
As I said on the other thread, I think Ruiz is being kept out by Dembele, who has been improving over the past few games.
