I posted on here in November that I was one of two fans reps for the East Stand. I answered a call from the club for volunteers, put in my application and received an acceptance email. That is the last email I received regarding this 'appointment'. I did have a few ideas for the East Stand but several more were suggested to me from fellow fans who sit in there. I have heard since, not by email, that I am not actually a fans rep for the East Stand because I have a family member who works at the club, so like the draw for the freebie to Turkey, I am barred from applying for even for this volunteer post. So be it.
Odd way to treat a lifelong fan? I can't see anything detrimental in you having a Family member working at the Club and you bringing forth new and fresh ideas from fellow supporters???
Seems a bit strange just because you have a family member working there, I don't see why that should be an issue.
The club are already getting grief about the holiday being fixed, even though it wasn't, I think it's sensible that the independent fan reps are seen to be completely independent.
another person who thought that they were a rep for the west stand was treated the same as couldn't make the date of the original date what was supposed to be for the 1st meeting as they were away on holiday.
Courtesy of one of the stand reps, Sue, from the Hull City Fans Forum on Facebook... So where to start, general cleanliness of stadia. Club have recently taken on new contractors so should see a gradual improvement. Leaking roof. Have recently used drones to check issues with the roof, repairs are part of the planning for the stadium. Lighting Argyle Bridge, club have walked the route and replaced some of the lighting, they have met with the council who are responsible for the route and they have agreed to update it, lay new tarmac to fill holes and maintain lighting. TVs on concourse. Hopefully remedied, had issues with a few but now been sorted. Tvs should now be on. Turnstiles. Members only turnstiles are slowly being introduced to each entry. No cashturnstile Stadia and training facilities. Club are keen to bring all training facilities to the mkm, the early stages of planning ,. since arriving, the owners have been sorting out the leasehold and other issues with the council. The council are on board with it and will support space for retail etc. Tan expects the full plan for development should be within the year followed by construction. Larger text on screens . IT will be looking to change style/colour of font. Family area at away games, Joe Clutterbrook will look into contacting clubs with the request and viability Ladies wear in club shop, or lack of. New designs and stock is forthcoming as club have a new design team in Turkey.
I noticed at the last home game that they appear to have installed new speakers, so hopefully the PA system issues should be rectified shortly too.
Also from Sue: So moving on. WIFI, club are aware that the signals are not always good, the bigger the crowds the more saturation and less chance of getting a decent signal, It is being looked at but is taking some sorting, without listing everything, there is a lot going on behind the scenes to improve things within the ground. They inherited a bit of a dump really and are trying to rectify that. Cash sales on concourse, not expected, extra tills put in to speed things up. For those that dont use cards and if you have membership, club can help by loading your cash on to your membership card to use that at the tills. New street foods to be introduced (I sampled a few and they were really good) Kit providers next season, We are in the last year with Umbro but talks continue with them and others for next season. we will be told as and when the provider is known. Flasks............Still a no no Im afraid, as per regulations that are followed by most clubs these days and other outside influences Cant see that changing any time soon. Halftime entertainment (penalty shootouts, crossbar challenge, kids footie etc etc) Again the club will look to re-introduce but due to the time constraints of half time, sprinklers being used and two teams of subs kicking balls around limits areas they can use . but it has been noted and the will look at it. A new app (yes we have heard that before) is well on its way to being completed and will include lots of stuff for fans to involve themselves with like possible raffles, comps, prizes etc. Traffic issues Walton St sadly not much to add here, the club are aware of the problems but cant control road closures, directing traffic, bus lanes etc. Police no longer close roads or direct traffic unless to prevent disorder/risk to person/s etc. Suggestions for one of the group for park and ride to be provided for others areas of Hull and surrounding areas . there was discussion re this which the club obviously can do little about. However a letter from the group will be drafted for stagecoach, east yorkshire etc to see if this is viable Return of black and amber nets. alot of clubs did away with coloured nets as believe it or not, they do have an effect on Hawkeye and causes issues with calibration. club have received mixed feeling re coloured nets with some fans hating em and others wanting them. the club will consider trying them with re calibrated hawkeye to see if viable. but cant see that being high on the to do list as is not something that effects the matchday experience of fans or club Announcer introducing stands one by one. Hopefully with a new sound system up and running in February, we will actually heat the announcer, so watch this space lol.
Cash sales on the concourse ffs. What is this obsession some people have with using cash everywhere. Grow up, whoever asked for that. The club app bit made me laugh. She does acknowledge we've heard it before but that's an understatement. Must be knocking on for 10 years now that development has been well underway for that. More Park and Ride seems a good idea. Seems stupid that we've had the stadium for 20 years now and still don't have park and rides from all 3 directions, but that's probably a UK society issue as much as it is a Hull City one.
I scratched my head at that a bit too, it's 2023 I'm amazed people still use cash. I don't even use a credit card anymore, I just use my phone.
Cash is still legal tender and believe it or not some people still prefer it to plastic, I'm one of them. I can see why it is card only because it stops any fiddling but I also think it puts people off spending. Suppose the counter argument is that perhaps people do spend more on a card? Personally I don't like using plastic to buy a pint at half time, I know it's easy etc, but on my last Bank statement I saw I'd been charged three times for one round of drinks at the stadium during half time. Even I can't sup three pints in 15 minutes, especially from a plastic container, so something went wrong and I wasn't aware until a month later. It's too late then, it was only £30 but it is one of the reasons why old farts like me prefer to pay on the day with cash for what they've had. So I do think there should be a choice.
