What a ****ing result. Draw well and truly deserved, don't care how much they cry about the supposed pen, I don't think it was. Our defence was incredible, we nullified the best team in the league so well. Ratings - Pope - 9 - Great saves and composure Trippier - 9 Schar - 9 Botman - 9 Burn - 9 Longstaff - 6 - Worked hard but way out of his depth Bruno - 7 - Not his best game, but still did good. Joelinton - 9 - MOTM - So many good tackles and amazing work in the middle of the field Willock - 7 - Good defensive work and some decent runs going forward Wilson - 4 - Missed one good chance, couldn't get in the game Almiron - 7 - Good defensive work Murphy - 5 - Lucky not to have given away a pen. Worked hard, nothing special though Wood - 5
Willock was our best player in my opinion Defence looked shaky as a unit with Burn being the best of the 4. Trippier’s set pieces were better Bruno was no more than a 6 at best.
Burn was good I reckon, yeah sure he got skinned by Saka a couple of times but that's not really burn being bad that's just saka being good. Through the match I thought he was solid. Even some of his work up the top of the pitch was sensational.
I think these scores are fair. I thought Wilson was terrible personally. Longstaff wasn’t anywhere near it. Bruno looked a little tired. Botman and Schar are like the blues brothers. So cool.
Agree willock was but he never seems to get any credit .. defended attacked was clever with the ball. Ran himself into the ground .
100% Soon we will have quality throughout the squad, the days of Longstaff, Wood and Murphy are numbered
Rode our luck at times, couldn't have complained if the first pen shout was given - what is Burn doing, a fist full of the guys shirt and its not even his man! Second one would have been harsh but you would have wanted it given the other way around. On another day Arsenal take one of those chances instead of skying them. Thought we did O.K. and a huge point for us on the road, thought Trippier was the best of the defenders and the midfield, while unspectacular, did a lot grafting for us. Wilson looked isolated and short on match fitness but got a good 70 mins under his belt. Would have liked to have seen ASM get enough time to get into the rhythm of the game but get why Howe didn't change it up as we needed the work rate in the middle of the park. Need Isak back and a two or three more options off the bench A very welcome point though and one loss in 18 games (20 inc cup's), 6 clean sheets on the bounce, QF of the Cup and outright top 4 at present!
Exactly. It's really unfair to criticise a point at the Emirates in any season, let alone one where they're 8 points clear at the top! But we weren't at our best, weirdly. Ground it out. Was a perfect game to summarise where we need to strengthen - in these games, Bruno is not a CDM, no protection for the defence, so we need to bring one in. Longstaff was bypassed repeatedly, too slow of foot and mind at the top end of the league, so Bruno should play there instead. Not enough threat on the left, Burn is a committed defender but not a modern left back. We need to hope Isak integrates because Wilson is getting more and more unreliable. Squad depth is sorely lacking, we were down to 9 men with Wood/Murphy introduction.
Partey is huge for Arsenal, gives them the midfield dominance they've missed since Viera. This game and the 1-1 with Brighton are the only games this season when I've thought the other team outplayed us. A great point for us.
I know Arteta is crying about penalties, but was that not also a blatant foul on Dan Burn too? Only caught a glimpse on the SSN news. Looked like a solid pen shout to me. Either way, Arteta can fook right off.
Imagine if we actually had attackers as good as our defenders. I think we're literally 3-4 signings away from seriously threatening the title. There's no luck in what we're doing, we're just incredibly well organised.
