Talksport. So we need to take this with a few bags of salt, but if it were true, how would people feel about it? Personally I think a loan would be a no brainer but that a transfer would be a risk as he has barely played recently. I'd like a loan with buy option, alongside another striker.
I'd be fine with it. At the end of the day Ings and Adams worked really well together so it would make a lot of sense.
Would take him back on a loan or for £10m ish. He may not be a long term option but that's not what we need right now.
I’d bite your arm off. Exactly what we need. If we brought him back *and* landed Beto, whilst shuffling off Adarma, it would be dream world.
Would definitely take Ings. Form and fitness possibly a concern, but we were so much better when he played and there may be slim pickings in this window? At least he's proven in the PL, and I'd imagine other clubs in the league would be interested - West Ham, Everton, Leeds etc. He was also a popular member of the team, which might be important? On the rumours of Alcaraz and Beto, it's difficult to get excited about players who are relatively unknown (to me anyway).
If Ings wanted to come back and partner up with Ché again, I’d have his training kit laid out ready for tomorrow morning.
I also don't think he actually left on bad terms did he? We, and I include the club were just disappointed he didn't want to extend his contract and stay, but after that he went to a club that wern't quite at the level he was saying he wanted without a fuss because they offered Saints a **** load of money more for him then anyone else. With his injury record and time left of contract we got a very good deal for him (so long as you ignore the fact that we never adequately replaced him or his goals).
just took a gander over at saintsweb to see if there are any more credible rumours. Nothing new on there other than this gem of a post: This illustrates perfectly why I am annoyed at the lack of activity. We are running out of winnable games. Leeds, Wolves and many other teams have been proactive and signed players already. We are sleepwalking into the championship. We needed improvements ready to go ASAP.
Yeah. As I recall he was planning to see out the last year of his contract. The club then decided to sell him rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.
Teams are even less likely to sell in the Jan window. Or you end up paying £45 million for a striker with 6 goals in 38 league appearances...
Beto and Alcaraz both look good to be fair. The latter looks like he has the creativity we are desperate for!
I just don't understand why they wouldn't have these signings ready to go. Why on earth would they wait? I really don't understand what's going on. It's clear NJ I'd out of his depth and yet that is ignored It's clear we need several players, yet nothing. NJ stating he's more worried about the defence and that recalling Bednarek is an option! It's starting to look all too familiar, I'm thinking that we're not going to be making any sort of signings over this window
