Good Morning. It's Tuesday 3rd January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Wober spotted in Leeds

Max Wober has been spotted in West Yorkshire by an eagle-eyed Leeds fan, who had his picture taken with him yesterday; prompting excitement that the 24yo Austrian International will be unveiled any day now.
It is believed Wober will sign a long term deal at Elland Road, but has insisted on a release clause in-case of relegation.

With his contract winding down, RB Saltzburg are keen to offload the former Rapid Vienna starlet, and Leeds were more than happy to oblige. It is believed that the fee is just short of £11m, with add-ons totalling £3m.

    Pundit predicts West Ham upset

Football pundit Mark Lawrenson has tipped Wet Ham to come away from Elland Road with three valuable points tomorrow night. Speaking to Paddy Power, the former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland star believes that Leeds could be tired after tough games against Manchester City and Newcastle Utd, and believes the Hammers have the quality to take advantage.

“Leeds were a little bit unlucky against Man City, and did well at Newcastle, but those two games could have really taken it out of them,” “West Ham are on a poor run but they’ll be fine. Two wins and they’d be in mid-table, and they’ve got the quality in the squad and know-how in the dugout. Leeds 0-2 West Ham.”

Bookies tip Leeds to stay up

Southampton have joined Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest as favourites for the drop, according to leading bookmakers Bet365. Their 2-1 loss at Craven Cottage was their fifth in a row, leaving Nathan Jones' team rock bottom of the Premier League with twelve points, followed by Wolves (19th) on thirteen points, and Nottingham Forest (18th) on fourteen points respectively.

Only five points separate the bottom seven clubs. Leeds will go two points clear of this group, if they can beat West Ham tomorrow night. They are currently in 14th place with sixteen points, exactly the same number of points they had at this stage last season (after 16 games).

Bournemouth (4/9) and Nottingham Forest (8/13) are considered odds-on for the drop whilst Southampton (4/5) have dropped in front of Wolves (6/4) and Everton (6/4). Then come Leeds at 9/2.

    Good morning all

You have to be winning your home games against the teams below you, I do however look through that West Ham starting 11 and it oozes so much more in quality than we do

Glad to see us taking action sooner rather than later. Hope it is not the last signing we make this window.

Leeds United have signed Austria defender Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg on a four-and-a-half-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

Morning everyone and i hope those with flu are feeling better. Mine has moved to my chest which for me is the worst bit.
Wober might be coopers replacement for next season or a left back. I cannot see Marsch dropping cooper as he puts him straight back in every time. Struijk is not the answer at left back but he is better than firpo. This is where Marsch needs to make the correct choices for the team but i have my doubts.

Don't know Wober at all but a gentle Google has him as a centre half who can play at LB. Has decent pace, good in the air, good leader, strong, can pass and has good work rate. He takes penalties and free kicks.

Doesn't seem to be exceptional at anything but looks a solid all rounder.

As Emu says Wober is a solid all rounder and a great buy at that price, but Therein lies the problem we have we are still in the £10m price range for defenders whilst our opposition besides Brentford are in the £20m-£35m and our top signings are in the £25m range whilst others are going £40m to £60m and thats outside the top 6. Brighton are the club buying some great players at cheap prices and selling them for big cash or refusing to sell….. Eire has a theory about this <laugh>

Morning all. Unbelievable amount of supposed Leeds fans taking to twitter last night to criticise our new signing. Talking about giving the lad a chance. No point in laughing at the antics of the toon fans after our draw, we a fair element no better

He sounds like a good buy. Maybe he could solve our LB problem. I would also like a striker.<ok>

So, clearly a Jesse buy. He now has two ex Salzburg defenders. Theory I guess is he should know what’s expected by marsch and be used to the system so should hit the ground running.

That’s the good. The big ? As always with defensive recruits from European leagues is how they can cope with the physicality and pace of the premier league. Guess we’ll know soon enough.

Let's remember folks we are still a team in transition. Failure to recruit and evolve the championship squad as caused this delay. Fans are asking for a striker but what about Gelhardt?. We desperately need a solid creative mid who can score too. Trouble is how much are they and where can we get one for a pittance. Declan Rice with 18 months left on his contract is being touted for 70 million. His wages will be double what we pay as well. I have no wish for the club to spend money we don't have.
