It's funny, obviously a great result today but I didn't think it was a particularly good performance in comparison to recent games. First half was utter domination without much being created and we nearly cocked it up 2nd half. The resilience and fitness of the lads is clear to see mind and we fully deserved to win it.
In agreement with this, we seemed to not know what to do when we took the lead. The subs stopped us ****ing it up as at 1-1 until Woods came on I thought we were going to lose.
Same team twice in 3 days always the same. We seemed to lose the outlet in Allahyar when he went off. The switch to 2 up front was a master stroke from Rosenior as we always look quite **** when we play a 2 winger formation with only one natural winger on. I’m just glad we got over the set back as well as scoring plenty of goals. We haven’t won after taking the lead in the first half under Rosenior yet. It was the same against Reading we took the lead and because of how this seasons gone, the players seem to play to protect the lead as soon as it goes in.
I thought Ally was a good outlet but when he got in the final third he regularly had no idea what to do with it. Had a great opportunity to cross it and bottled it and passed it back central to frustration from the supporters, which then prompted him to take the wrong decision and blast it into the box when he next got it.. to no one. Hopefully it's just rust but he's not coming on as much as I'd hoped.
He seems nervous/reluctant to run at a player. I do think his long term is more central albeit once the rust is gone and he gets his confidence back I think he’ll get back to terrorising full backs. Our lack of wide options has probably caused Ros to rush him back. Ebiowei will really push him to up his game as his next 6 months at this level I feel will lead to him being a Palace starter next season.
Think that was my biggest frustration as the space and gaps were there against Wigan to really terrorise them and he looked so unwilling.
Yeah definitely agree. He is pure chaos though just seemingly lacking confidence in his leg which I feel is why he went down. Would let him rest until Hudds now anyway. But like I said about Ebiowei he’s a natural wide player with similar levels of athleticism as Ally but with miles more composure in the final third. Having this on both sides however will only make the others life easier as it creates more gaps for them both
I think that was the first game home and away I've missed watching this season, sod law when we get a great win. I was on a bus coming back from a very enjoyable weekend at the beach, so wonderful places here in Vietnam. I will watch the whole game though when it becomes available on follow, which is usually 24 hours after the game. Having watched the highlights, just have some points worth mentioning. 1. Tyler's touch passed the keeper was perfect and a great finish from a tight angle. 2. Regan's interception and the way he moved the ball slightly wider away from the defender to give himself room the make the perfect cross for Tyler's 2nd goal was excellent. 3. Greaves's finish was also well executed, often ending up going over the bar. Well, things are certainly on the up, Liam made good decisions with his subs and who to bring on, great to see a coach making the right changes. There is no doubt the away following creates a much better atmosphere than at home at present, I guess because vocal support is not spread about the whole stadium which they are at home, but concentrated in one away area is part of the reason. Though, probably we just need a win or two at home which will help to rectify this!
I hate to break it to you Amin but the 15 teams above us also have at least 60 to play for....... I'd love us to go on a decent run and move up the table but I'll start getting excited if we go top 10. (I don't think we will)
