Good Morning. It's Monday 2nd January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds grind out goalless draw at St James Park Newcastle Utd's six game winning run came to an end on Saturday afternoon as Leeds ground out a goalless draw at St James Park. It was far from pretty, but when you're hovering dangerously close to the drop zone - needs must. At times, Leeds got ten men behind the ball, and when that failed, Meslier proved a more than capable last line of defence. The Geordies had their chances, but lacked quality in the final third; that's not taking anything away from Leeds, who stuck to their plan, and frustrated their hosts. Offensively, Leeds had little to offer, and rarely ventured into Newcastle's final third, but that didn't matter. Not many teams will pick up points at St James Park this season, let alone keep a clean sheet. Cooper, for all his faults, put in a Captain's performance at the weekend, long may that continue. please log in to view this image Wober set to sign Max Wober looks set to become a Leeds Utd player after it was suggested that the versaitile defender has already passed his medical (last Thursday). A fee of £10.6m has reportedly been agreed with RB Salzburg, with Wober set to become Leeds fourth Red Bull signing since Marsch took over from Bielsa last February. Predominantly a centre back, the 24yo Austrian International has proved to be a more than capable left back. He is also strong in the air, and a good passer of the ball. Whether he takes the reins at left back, or fights for one of the centre back roles is unknown, but he certainly strengthens the squad. At the time, (2019) Wöber became the most expensive player in Austrian Bundesliga history (€12m), but with his contract winding down, the deal suits all parties concerned. please log in to view this image Radrizzani has 'reached the end of the cycle' at Leeds During a Boxing Day Interview, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani admitted Leeds need more cash if they are to move to the next level, and accepted that his days at Elland Road are numbered. The 48yo businessman has seen the valuation of the club soar since taking over from Massimo Cellino in a £45m deal in May 2017. It has been suggested that the 49ers enterprises are expected to fork out £400m, almost nine times as much as what the Italian paid for the club nearly six years ago, though much will depend on staying in the top flight. "Perhaps Leeds can grow further, but in the future they will need more resources to be able to reach higher levels and compete with the best clubs in the Premier League, as a result I believe that, due to the history of the club and the respect I have for the their fans, it is right to let those who can invest more than me go forward, and bring them to the glory of the past. There is also a design aspect: this is my sixth year, change is healthy." "We are considering investment opportunities in some Italian teams with the 49ers and other important partners. As partners in Leeds with the 49ers we have reached the end of the cycle and have shown that we know how to create value. Now a new phase is opening with new targets, accompanied by the interest of family offices and private equity who want to invest with us." please log in to view this image
Morning all Wouldn’t it be a nice start to the year if we heard both Radz and the 49ers were selling up to someone with even more financial clout I guess I should be grateful after GFH, Cellino and Bates, I believe the 49ers will have more money than Radz but we’ll get fed up with them eventually, American owners just don’t do owning a football team well Great point, scruffy game, we obviously lack some quality but we know that
I've never had a problem with Radz he's brought our club back. made us attractable again but everyone has a limit and he has reached his. he can't take it any further which shows what sort of bloke he is when a lot would of given us jackanory stories. As on the 49's I agree it's went a bit quiet but I don't see them leaving when they have a foot in. We still doing a lot of business with Red Bull Rasmus,Aarronson,Roberts. now Wober is their something more into that? or is it just how the cards have fallen ex Coach players etc etc. On the Newcastle game we mixed it well first half 2nd half was more back to the wall stuff but it's a point i would take every day before a ball is kicked. Its very tight from half way in the league but that game in hand we have on them all is massive. We are sitting where I expect us to be but I was hoping not as tight with points. It's all about winning again and we need them 3 points with West Ham but so do they so will make a interesting game.
Morning all and hoping this flu bug clears up soon. Agree with what Rads is saying but no clear statement about the 49ers taking over. So will we become the plaything of some rich oil state or the Chinese. If lowey is so rich and a leeds fan why does he not buy us.
I feel we are a really good left back and a quality creative mid away from surviving easily.Which of our squad mids are capable of stepping up and providing this option.
**** knows what I have had for the last 4 days. It's not covid as I've done two tests and both negative. I've struggled to get out of bed. I don't really get ill but this bug has completely flattened me for 4 days. I feel shocking. Shivers, headache, cough, sore throat, aches, about a gallon of snot an hour yesterday, dizziness, constantly burping. Its probably as ill as I've been in 20 years. Felt a bit better this morning but I've since relapsed in to feeling ****ing horrendous again.
I don't think we've got one. We need a player with the x factor. A Pablo type that can conjure up a bit of magic out of nothing. Sinisterra has the ability but we've not seen enough of him to see if he can do it at this level although I hope he is the one. Gnonto has great weight on his passing. Very clever. We'll see.
Whatever the **** it is, it's knocked me on my arse for the last few days. I just don't bang on about it like Ell. And to top it all off Doc called me a ****er.
Rumour going round at ER against City was that the 49ers takeover is all agreed and will be completed ahead of schedule. If so and the deal is done then you'd assume any transfer dealing this window have all been signed off as part of the agreement. Radz making all the noises of a man who's on the way out imminently as well.
Morning all On the 49ers front it’s going to be a strange mix and match new owner when it finally happens. This is not a 49ers ownership this is the 49ers investment arm in conjunction with other investors as a consortium. There is the likes of the YouTube guy that already owns a big chunk of shares, billionaire Pete Lowey the stadium and shopping mall developer and even the former CEO and President of Fiorentina. So as the buy out gets closer it will be interesting to see who the parties are and how much of the club they own each. At the minute 49ers with Lowey etc own 48% and need to find the cash for the other 52% to pay Radz off and I can’t see the 49ers stumping up circa £182m. Radz may decide to keep some shares and stay on in some description?
Oh by the way I met Pags in the Northstand before the City match. A lot of the bbc 606ers might remember her.
Everyone I know has had it including my wife and kids (except me actually). They happen every year but for some reason the world lost their collective minds over SARS-COV 2
Big story inside the West Ham fans tent is that Sullivan has already interviewed Marcelo Bielsa once and talks are ongoing. Not looking good for Moyes if we beat them as that will be six defeats on the bounce?
That doesn’t sound like the 49s are taking over, Radz seems to be saying that they will be investing in Italian clubs with him? Wonder whether Orta will be going as well?
