Hope so, just need two others to be in more trouble than us. We can enjoy the ride. Think we will be safe any way

 

Well Jager has just put a thread up on the Odds by the Bookies, and Wigan are the favourite to go down!! Think they are changing their mind on us though.........................

Wigan are certain to go down, they have a manager who will not accept that is one and only system is not working and very easy to play against. Also uncle Dave has just said in the paper that he would sack his best friend if he thought it would keep wigan up.. I think a few more losses and martinez will be looking for another club,,,,,

After today's 3-1 defeat to Wolves, I think Wigan are in big trouble, they can't defend to save their lives, and I really felt sorry for their Keeper, who was left so exposed by their back line, he made some terrific saves, and rightly deserved MOTM..............

Ah well better they are in trouble and hopefully relegated than the Rs or Swans.Don't you agree?

Currently watching MOTD2 and their game against Wolves. One word Yes. They will be in the Championship next season for sure. Question is who would we want to try and sign from them when we stay up ?? lol

 

Yeah good performance Dragon, but funny thing was I was more gutted about losing that than the Spurs game the week before.I spose being so close to getting a draw makes you feel worse, but in the cold light of day and looking at their team we gotta take the positive from that and take into the next game.
Great result for you in scouse land too, btw how's Wayne R doing, really liked him at Rangers,and scored a few important goals for us second half of last season.

 

Glad Foolham lost today, hope they go down too

 

He had a great game for us at Anfield, probably his best game actually, he was playing in his preferred natural position on the wing, getting a starting position, while Sinclair was rested, and we got to see the real Routledge, hope he continues with performances like that, terrific performance!................

I also agree, Musty, having mentioned them some time back. I don't think that they are a bad side, far from it actually; but I felt that the number of games they will have to play because of their European commitments might take its toll as the season wears on.

 

i think the sooner fulham leave europe the more chance they have of survival

 

Hey you swans fans just popt over from the latics site a bit lonely over there on my own so i thought i see what you are saying about us at the DW and i must say apart from a few of you it sounds very positive and glad that you think there is a way out of the mess that we are in due to the way we are playing or not depending on your point of view,But the thing is why will passing the ball around work in the Championship but not in the prem is it the kind of players that you find in the premier thay can`t get there heads around playing that way or is it better to play the long ball.

 

Logically, I think it comes down to this:

1) Martinez started the Barcelona-style 'pass-and move' type of football at Swansea which got him promotion to the Championship and then an 8th place in that league.

2) Martinez moves to Wigan and tries to convert them to the same philosophy with limited success.

3) At Swansea, Sousa & Rodgers continue along similar lines and gain promotion to the Premier League. Playing the same way in the Premier League, Swansea are doing very nicely thank you (admittedly with two-thirds of the season still to go, things may change for the worse)

My conclusion would be that it's the players at Wigan who are the problem. At the moment, Swansea are better at this type of play than Wigan. Swansea have a much better defence, which helps (both teams have an excellent keeper). Swansea have two outstanding wide players, which Wigan don't (though you had N'Zogbia who was excellent).

 

I think, also, learning and adapting to a new style of football is easier in a less punishing league! It's a tough school, the PL, and Martinez trying to shift the playing style at Wigan was always dangerous, given it was happening in public and was always going to experience teething problems. You can see from the football you play occasionally that it's getting there, but confidence and psychology are huge. The Swans are used to success right now, and believe that playing pretty football can keep us up. Wigan's experience thus far is a little different!

 

the only way wigan has any chance is if they get a manager in who can turn things around, If martinez stays and keeps on playing the only system he knows then wigan will be lucky to get between 18 and 20 points all season and that means certain relegation....
