    Match Preview;
After beating Sheffield United 0-1 at Brammall Lane in October, Sheffield United went on to have a bad October, losing to Stoke and Coventry, and drawing with Norwich and Blackpool before ending the month with a win away at West Brom. November saw them win 3 and lose 1, then a return to form in December led to them winning all four of their games to end the year. Their top scorers are Iliman Ndiaye and Oliver McBurnie with 9 goals each. Their few bad results have meant they now sit 2nd in the table, on 50 points, so 3 behind league leaders Burnley, but still an impressive 11 points clear of third place Blackburn.

As for us, how times can change. After our game at Brammall Lane, we went on to win 6 out of 7 games in October, then the rumours and disruption started. We took a single point from 4 games in November, and 4 points from 4 games in December. Thursday's 0-3 home defeat to Luton was not a great way to end the year, and already Critchley is being heavily criticised for his tactics and his starting line-up. We are now down to 13th, and somehow still within 3 points of the playoffs, but at present we are heading in the wrong direction. Critchley needs to, somehow, turn the ship, and get us playing positive, fluid and enjoyable football again...we didn't see any of that against Luton...we couldn't even get the message board displays right; https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-64128326

    Team News
QPR: Stefan Johansen and Leon Balogun edge closer to a return.

Sheffield United: Oli McBurnie and Ben Osborn could return, with Rhian Brewster and John Fleck still out.

    Pre-match Talk
Neil Critchley (QPR Head Coach): “ We want to test ourselves against the best opponents in the division and Sheffield United are one of the best teams in this league.”

“They have a very strong squad and it is up to us now to show a response on the back of a disappointing result.”

“We will have to be at our best, we need to improve and we need to do it quickly.”

Paul Heckingbottom (Sheffield United Manager): “QPR are at home, they will try to force the issue, but we are going to go and try and impose ourselves, create chances and take them and try and win.

“Consistency is key, we have a lot of key players returning and we will keep the same hunger and quality and we will be okay.”

As always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

What an epic crash and turn in fortune. Sad that the excitement has turned into despair so quickly.

Hope we get a bit of luck and nick one like we did at Sheffield in October. We were poor in both boxes against Luton, but some of our play inbetween was promising I thought. When JCS or Balogun are back, maybe he will go 3 at the back and a front 2, but with only 2 regular CB's available I see why Critchley hasn't as yet. Roberts failure to get off his heels and into their box for various decent low crosses from Chair and Shodipo, suggest he needs some rapid coaching in this. If he can't do it someone else needs to play off Dykes up front.

I think he must have during 15 years or so coaching. A Blackpool supporter quoted on the LFW preview said "he played just about every variation you can think of for us - he's remarkably adept at coaching a change of formation in a short space of time."

Dan Bennett (Blackpool fan) on the WLS podcast said pretty much the same, more pragmatic than a lot of modern coaches, won't insist on one way and one way only. Like you say some of our play wasn't bad the other day but the movement in and around the box wasn't there.

That is all about confidence. If he is as pragmatic as Blackpool fans say he will have realised by now that Dykes needs support in the box and to be given balls he can win. No forward however good (or not so good) he may be couldn't do much with the service and support Dykes is getting at the moment. Reminds me of the visions of Mackie forlornly chasing every ball in the Redknapp premier league year however lost the cause was because the other 9 outfield players didn't have the guts, or had been instructed not to, make runs into the box.

Agree, I think lost confidence is a big issue at the moment. An upheaval at the Club, a pretty young squad, 5 of them brought in by the departed Beale, plus Balogun, and the team currently missing 2 older experienced players in Stefan and Balogun who may have given on field guidance, Balogun certainly looked to be doing that at the back.

All valid, but none of it excuses the naive set up.
    Hopefully, just a hiccup.
