Half of that is 'dull hull mentality' . We've made them look ****, yet we don't give ourselves credit.
Allahyar was excellent, kept them pinned back and constantly stretched the play which we haven't had properly for ages. Woods out for Docherty also seemed to make a massive difference. Macloughlin played well but personally I don't think it would have made much difference if Figs had played instead. Thought Longman had a poor first half but a great second half. Seri was his usual quality self and Slater gave them something to think about. Oscar has hopefully shut a few people up tonight. His harrying and finishing when given service is great. To say he's got ten goals with the injuries we've had and the way we've been set up to play for most of the season shouldn't even have brought question marks upon him. Ingram I wish would come off his line quicker and claim more balls to be honest, but he seemed to make better decisions on choosing the short pass or the long ball at the right moments for the most part tonight. Christie and Greaves did good jobs in their respective positions and Jones did what was needed of him also. I'm not sure how Smith plays over Sinik, but it didn't backfire. A good, solid team performance.
I didn’t realise how desperate Sunderland were to keep him despite him being out of contract in summer
And also the calibre of clubs interested would make it tough for us. But I do agree, he was one I was quite keen on us trying to get.
That poor goal we give away on Saturday hopefully will be massive going forward. From that I’m sure the manager will have sat them down and said “ play the same way but if in doubt get it out”. Looking ahead their isn’t much difference between playing teams near the bottom and teams around the play offs and that shows in the league table.
Oscar does, on occasion, display the first touch of a malevolent rapist. Got in some really threatening places in the box though and clinical finish for the winner.
So we get a win , perhaps the manager isn't that **** after all and our tactics needed modifying rather than dumping completely
I think the key difference was that Birmingham didn’t press us very hard so the chance to get a good pass forwards came straight away rather after a few passes. They were really lethargic compared to how they played at our place.
They moved the ball much quicker at the back, think we tired them out first 45 and ground them out. We’ve not done that this season once until tonight.
It was a very impressive performance. We made a good team look bang average. And Bielek looked a right donkey.
Was there any word on why Tufan never made it onto the pitch? Assuming he’s off. £4m mega signing indeed.
In roseniors last 7 games (his total so far) We've conceded 6 goals And scored 7 In shotas last 7 games We conceded 19 goals And scored 7 Just a little tidbit
That was fantastic. We slaughtered them 1-0. It would have been a travesty if we hadn’t won. We completely dominated. Great stuff.
