BBC Oscar Estupinan's late goal gave struggling Hull City a narrow win at Birmingham City. The Colombian striker nipped in front of Marc Roberts to guide Cyrus Christie's cross past Blues goalkeeper John Ruddy from close range. Ryan Longman thought he had headed the Tigers in front from Greg's Docherty's cross earlier in the half, but was ruled offside. Tigers keeper John Ingram had to pull off a smart save to deny Blues a point when Sean McLoughlin almost sliced an attempted clearance into his own net. 54Graham 21:54 Good old John Ingram
That was another big step forward, not only were we mostly solid at the back, but the tempo was so much quicker and we got the ball forward with purpose instead of dithering. Not having Woods in there made a world of difference and allowed Seri to be much more mobile. McLoughlin is also doing his bit to keep Figs out of the side, another great performance. That clean sheet and that win will have given the lads confidence, especially Oscar and that's two in two for him now and into double figures. Allahyar I thought was decent considering how long he's been out, he'll keep getting better as we go along and I thought Doc did very well too. With the right additions in January, we'll be fine if that was anything to go by.
Agree 100%. Lots of criticism of our recruitment in the summer (and rightly so on some fronts), but picking up Oscar on a free was a fantastic bit of business. Could easily see him picking up another 8-10 goals by the end of the season, especially if we keep improving, how much would he be worth if that happens.
Can say that about half of the championship, it's incredible how high some teams are given what we've seen when we've played them
Get the **** in. Thought we played really well for the most part. Our away form is great at the moment. Well done boys.
So how are we approaching Monday's game against Wigan at the DW? More confident or happy with a point? Our next two games are against teams below us, six points would shoot us away from safety and probably establish a firm bottom three. Typic...no, you know what? **** that. If we get at them like we did tonight, we've got this. Hell, the instruction tomorrow in training couldn't be clearer, "same again, lads."
Well done John....as we all appreciate you can never have too many keepers! Big performance and 3 points that, huge feel good confidence booster. What a difference the Doc made as well as John the keeper. Safe journey home to the travelling support. I’m sure they’ll be buzzing..like my proverbial fridge. UTT.
I do wonder how much the nervous atmosphere when trying to play out impacts the home form. Certainly can't help the players.
Wigan I feel confident, but would be happy with a point, Huddersfield however are improving, won 3 in their last 6 including their last 2, if we perform as we did tonight, and take our chances I fancy us for 6 points out the 2. But typical City we'll more likely come out of it with 1 or 0 points !
Hopefully we leave the “hull city charity bandwagon” on the a63. We should be turning up at Wigan and putting another 3 points between us, all of a sudden the playoffs are closer than a relegation dogfight. Attracting players becomes easier aswell
Thanks but I'm waiting till the New year. And likely it will be more like a jog for me for the 1st few weeks
After Saturday I think most of us came away disappointed with a point but tonight gives us 4 from 6. Good performance and great 3 points. I’ve just give the dog an extra treat they call him Oscar.
Not ironic McLaughlin comes in we look a different side. A quality player. Also Greaves looks excellent at left back. Midfield had better balance. If there’s any takers for Tufan or Sinik, get rid if we can get anywhere what we paid. Sign some direct wingers with pace.
News from the post match press conference, Rosenior is optimistic about keeping Oscar beyond the January transfer window! I didn't know we have had interest in him.
