Can I also just add......starting to see some of TM quality and ability taking shape here. Subs last night were timely and progressive. I think he has warmed into the task, got to grips with the players,he looks a lot more comfortable and confident.I've been a bit critical of his dour demeanour and perhaps a bit worried he might be wanting to put the shutters up all the time, but, I've been wrong. He is seeming to revel in dealing with this very young bunch and wants to allow them to express themselves. I also think, our potential....even though he may always have known it was there... is affecting him.He seems increasingly affected by it interview after interview.
Atm we are 13 points off the bottom of the league, we are also 13 points off the top of the league. Although, apart from Burnley and Sheff Utd, the league is very close. Lose a few games and you plummet, win a few and you soar. A win against the tangerine dream would be very welcome.
Wow, hats off to you Trai Hume. Incredible performace last night and so well spoken in front of the media, seems to have a very, very level head on his shoulders. Pity Wigan couldn't have left the lights on so we could see him
Very happy with that mind. There's a lot right with the team, whoever plays. It is so refreshing to watch a team you actually like, after so long with too many indifferent drifters and overpaid has beens mopping up what little cash there was. If we play badly next time out, we play badly. It won't be because of a lack of real effort from everyone from the manager to those not even on the bench. The club is being run right, the team are young, improving and on it every game and the connection between club and fans has been properly restored. That's a lot of good work done in two years mind. A lot. That's all I want. The rest will follow. Even the U18s thrashed Liverpool U18s 4-0 away recently!
We are reaching a point now where nobody tries to really attack us, they know the damage we can do. The Sky commentary and pundits are literally choking on our knobs, Hinchcliffe in particular absolutely glowing about us. That was a coming of age game for Dan, controlled it, and Michut and Ba so contrasting but both could be exceptional. That Hume tackle is a thing of absolute beauty it’s all ower my Facebook and I haven’t skipped past it once. 4th is amazing, and we’d be up top 2 arse without injuries. Mowbray has been a top appointment and he’s got everyone balanced. Just get LND signed back on and I’ll be a glowing carrot. Never been O’Nien biggest fan, always appreciated his character and his effort and pride. Something has clicked this season and I’d argue he’s player of year to date. Love to see it for what I appreciated before, adding ‘actually, you can ****ing play a bit’ is ideal. We are getting so much right, we are great to watch when we go one touch we are mesmerising at times. Just please ****ing keep Roscoe. We cannot buy better at this level.
Hume it’s one of them. Naturally you don’t get over excited when you pay 50p from Irish league. But then, Keane, Seamus Coleman… many more. I could watch that tackle all month ‘come get ya ****’ ha. Bally-esque. Well Bally would have snapped the lad and got a yellow but you know what I mean ha.
He was excellent in his overall game last night, solid in defence and got forward well with the assist for Simms. Looks a good player and should be challenging Gooch for the RB starting spot now. Will be interesting to see what Mowbray does when Gooch is fit
I keep banging on about being inventive from set pieces and hey presto, we took a short one and Simms scored, we have been getting nowhere just lumping the ball in the box
Great to have options developing constantly. There’s no denying the recruitment has generally been superb. When we look at lads we didn’t know about like Cirkin, Ba, Hume, all really great pick ups. Add the higher spend ones like Ballard, Clarke and Roberts who are real quality. I mean this is a small part of a long list. Remember the grief Speakman was getting for recruitment last season? Have we bought a single lemon yet? Not one signing is a write off.
Definitely. Michut and particularly Ba were also great. That should help them reall kick on for the second half of the season. I was a bit worried wit all 3 (Inc Neil) being so young in midfield but they were excellent. If we choose to give Neil a rest for a game or 2 and play e.g. Michut with Evans I wouldn't have a problem with it.
And TH alluded to this very thing in his post match interview. You can't help but enthuse over the last two results, 1 team near the top and 1 near the bottom, 6 goals scored, and 2 against, those two were a fluke and an error by Patto if I'm being a little harsh. The reality of this league is that it's so tight and you have to be relentless to succeed, as Burnley and Sheffield United are doing at present, however they will have a blip like all clubs do and it's up to the chasing pack to pounce if that happens. It's a long hard season and we just have to keep going and see where we end up.
He hasn't looked out of place in any of the appearances he has made. So it's always a a surprise that he never has a chance to have more of a run in the team.
So many good performances, yet until Stewart arrived the game was in the balance, Tony got it spot on with his timely substitutions in what could have been a closer game, Wigans subs in contrast were poor and the manager tied his own hands. Colo is struggling to get a grip and he will do well to turn his season around Contrary to popular opinion I think Power, McClean and Broadhead could be leading figures at the club in its fight for survival. Our immediate problem is accommodating the returning players, as so many of the young guns played so well last night, in particular Ba and Michut who combined with Neil to form a trio in mid field that looked very promising. This league is very close as has been pointed out and no one summed it up better than Mcanuff last night when he praised our style of play and said we stand an outside chance to make the play-offs this season, we do, and that is tremendous progress for a club which lets face it were struggling to make the play-offs 12 months ago in the division below. OaU. PS I was a bit concerned about Michut despite his CV but on first showing, he looks to me like a very good competition for Evans in that midfield three that played last night.
When we first signed Ba and michut I thought it would be Michut as the more attacking no 10 type roll with Ba as the sitter, but it was the other way around last night. Michut was very effective with Neil in the engine room.
Definately and its up to now been our biggest worry as last time Evans missed a game Ba and Neil were all at sea , what a difference Michut made to that last night, its early doors for sure, but often "neccessity is the mother of invention" or vice versa .
