All opinions but the greatest in my lifetime. That 1970 Brazil team were ridiculous, changed football. RIP
Wasn’t around during his era but the man was ahead of his time and some. Watched enough of these to know:
I've watched a few of his WC games and much like that video, he's probably the only one that makes me laugh throughout purely bcos of what he does to the players he takes on. It's so ridiculously good.
Just copy what I put on the Newcastle thread Girlfriends Dad met him in person, they were sat together on a plane for a couple hours. He doesn't follow football at all so didn't have a clue who he was and Pele just started chatting away. Asked about his life, what's Norway like, what does he do, general things. He thought he was a super super nice guy. Then he saw him at Viking Football Clubs ground doing a PR thing on the Telly and was like "what the fuuuck." RIP dude
only ever saw him play one game but what a game He smashed them Germans but Sly Stallone was MOTM imo RIP
I was 10 at the time of the 1970 World Cup... that Brazilian team were just ****ing mesmeric ... and he was the best of them ...
Still think it's a shame he never left Santos, and played all his club football in Brazil. There's not enough film of him to judge. International wise, he's without question. But he never took a club like Napoli to two league titles, which they'd never won before or since, and to a European title. And the Brazil teams were complete, unlike Argentina 1986. Being a bit churlish I suppose, as he was undoubtedly in the top three ever.
