It does stink of somebody at Sky asking Keith to post a Sunderland story and him spending about 10 mins trying to make one up.
It would be absolutely sickening tbh. Give the lad the contract he deserves and has earned. Have we got any ambition?
As regards Stewart, we imho, should 'count our blessings'. and remember 'a bird in the hand is worth, two in the bush'. The ins and outs will of course by the end of January will give a clear indication of this 'buy young/cheap and sell on... and what it means for the future of the club. Also whilst the concept of a wage structure to stop the club going bust, is understandable. However the best player in the club and main goal scorer, is always going to be paid more than others. Yes other players can agitate for more, but their contract is their contract, negotiation ls happen when it is up for renewal or we sell on. Also we could sell Stewart and bring 2 younger cheaper strikers in, and they may not produce his goal tally... that's the main point. I also have not forgotten KLDs 'smoke and mirrors' regarding ownership, so he can be a sneaky bastard.
Stoke keen? Seems an easy link with Neil there. Can’t they not spend money on transfer fees until next summer?!
The news story tells us nothing we didn't already know and I actually think its a good thing that more stories like this pop up as it might force the club's hand. Hopefully in the positive direction.
Not so sure. We all know the contact has been an issue. Probably his agent who is speaking to SS Keith.
By "make one up" I meant scratch together the rumours of the clubs interested and the linked replacement in Jerry Yates. Which feels a rumour that might be at least a season out of date It definitely feels like the base of the story in terms of talks reaching an impasse are true. I'd imagine he already has an offer on the table that's agreeable and its just a case of us agreeing terms with whoever club it is (or more than one)
I’ve always thought he’d leave but it’s still frustrating. Just want the club to do all they can to keep our best player. Not sure that’s the case currently.
Stoke have zero money***, Yates is 26 and will cost a fee, and Keith has basically never got transfer news about us right. I'm not saying the basis of his story is wrong, its almost certainly right. But the specifics he's given seem flimsy at best. *** I know their owners are rich but they're not spending it.
I have no info, and I'm probably going to get shot down here, but I'm going to call this and suggest Ross will stay....at least for another 12 months.
Decent forward at this level but he’s nowhere near as good as Stewart. I don’t expect his replacement to be signed from the UK tbh.
I will re-iterate I have every confidence that the guys running the club will make the right decisions for the right reasons, whether I agree with them or not. Its very different to Maja situation in that regards.
Agent stirring ****e after Ross is back with 2 goals in 2. No apparent progress on the contract so a naughty little press release like this gets the fans in uproar and appears to put pressure on the club. They're not daft these agents.
Stoke do have money plenty of it they've just had to cut there spending with relegation etc . From what I've read previously they should be able to spend again next season
