I think marsch knew we were missing key players… and tried a containment exercise. I think like most fans I’d like to have seen us have a go… but it might have been a slaughter.
Good effort from all the lads tonight but City way too good for us. However had we seen it through to HT at 0-0 we might have given them a more difficult second half. Joffy and Gyabi looked good when they came on whilst Gnonto was excellent all game.
You sum it up in the first line, “you think” and that’s the problem. None of us could recognise what the game plan was, we didn’t seem to have one. We should have been 3 or 4 goals down, we had one shot off target. That first half was absolutely garbage, nobody seemed to know what the game plan was. City’s finishing was terrible in that first half, we were very fortunate. Second half we were second best but at least we competed after going 3 goals down
At the start of the season, if someone had said you’re going to beat Chelsea 3-0 and win at Anfield where would you all have imagined we’d be in the table? Those two results alone are why after nearly 12 months Jesse is still in a job at ER. He got sacked at RBL with a 38% win ratio, before tonight he has 31% with us. Bielsa had a 44% win ratio Thomas Christiansen 42.9% Gary Monk 47.2% Do we really wait for Jesse to reach the 25% set by Heckingbottom?
Excellent post and spot on with the Marsch thing too. We played with nine men too as neither forShaw or cooper are pl standard
Also comparing two coaches that spent £100m or more in the PL compared to two spending peanuts in the Championship. If you’re happy with Jesse and feel he’s doing a fine job then of course, you’re entitled to your opinion. I just feel it’s been pretty obvious from very early on that Jesse is miles out of his depth, he’s a text book coach with the gift of the gab Sean Dyche with a team like Burnley 35% win ratio.
Night all, maybe it will feel better in the morning, I just hope Matt doesn’t start a Newcastle v Leeds match thread off too early as that’s going to be another depressing one to look forward too
He might be better at that level who knows. Sometimes the PL is a step too far, all I know is we’re a PL team and require a PL coach. Maybe next season we will need a coach capable of doing what it takes to get us out the championship.
Are we behind, we have spent £280m since promotion. I’d agree it’s not been spent wisely and that figure doesn’t include Augustin
