There was a discussion I saw online around managers signing players from their previous clubs or who they had worked with before (I think linked to ten hag). It is much much rarer than people assume
Leeds signing Maximilian Wober. Sounds like a few clubs getting some deals early Expect us to say we bid for Adeyemi and Miretti on deadline day but couldn’t get them over the line
Liverpool showing that the transfer window means **** all. They’ve announced the signing, done all the standard new player media interviews and photos etc. Hell, he’ll probably be in training with the players before it’s officially official in 4 days time when the window actually opens. There’s no reason we can’t be doing the same. No excuses.
I'm sure the board will try really really hard, and let the fans know how hard they're trying in a difficult, inflated market before pushing through a sub standard player on loan at 22:54 on deadline day
No pressure Saints. We’re about as attractive as dog **** as recognised by most, but we still mustn’t fail to deliver!
With Gakpo incoming for Liverpool, I wonder if they would loan out Carvalho for the rest of the season. It would certainly be worth an enquiry, worst they can do is say no.
Carvalho on loan isn't a bad shout. Also, re: Fofana, we cannot let the FM wonderkid gap close. So I propose signing Andreas Schjelderup from Nordsjaelland, who is having an absolutely obscene season: 10 goals in 18 matches at age 18 (leading the Danish Superligaen), playing primarily as a winger. Is this a realistic option? Almost certainly not. But maybe if we promise to play him in his preferred role and promise to win a domestic cup by 2027, he'll be convinced.
Anyone else think a couple of solid loans are the most likely? Don’t see us signing anyone this window tbh.
Depends on the quality on offer. The problem with our current position is that it considerably narrows the quality of the players we can realistically target on permanent deals, because good players don't want to face the prospect of either going down to the Championship or being sold again in six months. The right loan is better than grasping at straws for a permanent deal, though I haven't the foggiest what will be available in either bucket.
Seriously, why on earth would recalling bednarek be on the club’s mind? Just for that alone I think Crook is chatting absolute breeze as usual.
This seems more likely. Hopefully they can’t - or there is a penalty for doing so. You’d expect there would be as our budgeting would be based on them taking whatever portion of his wages they agreed to for the whole year
