Seri Oscar Tufan Nod to Coyle for effort, cross, and 'that' tackle. Longman again at least tried to take on his man & put us on the front foot, but short on quality and faded badly.
Seri passed the ball nicely but wasn’t involved in key defensive or attacking moments, he didn’t do enough to influence the game. That’s why he’s third on my list and that’s why he’ll stay third.
1. Seri 2. Slater 3. The lad with the long name... Two poor sides, on the day, one could be heading to Leyton Orient next August. On that evident, I couldn't hazard a guess or like to say which, could be both!
Seri - always available, most of our positive play came through him. Oscar - understandably looked a little rusty at times, but always a threat and a pest. Tufan - fantastic in the first half (apart from the corners), faded in the second half.
Yes puzzled why they took Christie off he was not up to par but so where others. I did not notice him being noticeably unfit. Was he ? Maybe an illness onset as opposed to too much Christmas pud. But it beggars belief as to why they had the day off before the game. Surely should have been in for light training and supervised meals etc.
Maybe when pro football was based on drinking culture but that's less of a thing in the modern game. There has been illness in the camp (not just Jones) so I'm willing to give Christie the benefit of the doubt but he did look a bit sluggish to me.
I agree, I think an hour or two in the morning, also keeps the mind focused. I always remember Browny giving them Xmas day off before the infamous Man City game, and look what happened there.
I don't think there's any link between giving the lads Xmas day off and then losing. Christie was probably under the weather as he looked well off it.
Most likely the case with Christie, I was speaking generally, but I guess ex-players should know what is best.
