Yes he should be my opinion, he doesn't create enough or score enough for a 10 and saying he's one of our better 10s isn't saying much I'd be starting Stuey and even Aribo (also both internationals) ahead of him personally.
He’s absolutely toilet and should be nowhere near a premier league side. Let alone starting. Genuinely barely championship level player
No I don’t. Just the ****e ones. Fwiw my view: High PL quality: ABK, KWP, Tino, Stu, Mid PL quality: JWP, DCC(?), Adams Low PL quality: Perraud, Macca, Willy, Salisu Championship quality: Adarma, Aribo, Bazunu, Lyanco, AMN, League one quality: Ely, Djenepo, Theo, Diallo
I still maintain you're mistaking "****e" for "low in confidence" for some of the players. A lot of this squad went to Spurs and won in February, beat Chelsea in August, held Man City. The main worry for me isn't ability, it's how fragile the confidence is within the squad. Which comes down to a lack of leadership and experience.
We have others that score and assist more frequently than him (his main job for the team) but Ralph liked his defensive side so that's why he started so often and fans wondered why we struggled to score.
You can inject all the confidence you want into him. He still can’t beat a man, cross or shoot. Also very lightweight and a poor first touch. I will admit he does run a lot though. And has had a couple of good games which is more than most of our team in 2022. So I understand why a few people like him. Same thing happened with Shane Long
so that is strange for JWP say. What were the new stuff they couldn’t to work and why? Was it rubbish new stiff?
Well, there's definitely fallout from that game. Fans may as well accept that NJ is here. After the cup game I was pissed that I didn't see ANYTHING different than under Ralph. Yesterday I saw quite a few different things which is GOOD. Jones will know exactly what our problems are. Lyanco doesn't start because he's the best CB, he starts because he's celebrates a corner clearance like its a winning goal. That is the mentality we absolutely have to have and if he can infect some of the other boring, weak minded, piss poor mentalities in front and behind him then it will be a great move. At least NJ is showing signs that he has a plan. He changed the game for the better with his in game management and will have hopefully seen things that he can use and learn from. Give the man a chance.
I am wondering if ABK picked up a knock at the World Cup because it’s mental that he didn’t play if he’s 100% fit
Agree - bizarre team selections for sure. But we were getting that with Ralph too to a large extent, albeit not as suicidal as that. I'll be furious if he rolls the out again next game. I'd also expect McCarthy to come back in soon - he is an ex-teammate of NJ's, and assume they are friendly. Can only assume ABK isn't fit to start? Cannot work out why on earth he's not playing otherwise. Typically, our season was front-loaded with top 6 fixtures, and now we have a good run, we're as badly equipped as we can be to deal with the easier fixtures.
I mentioned about the double relegation in response to someone saying something like “ this squad should storm the Championship”. It was said with tongue in cheek, but if we go down this season, I would be surprised if we mount a serious challenge for promotion without a complete overhaul of the squad. And if we persist with just bringing in young players, then I think we will struggle to stay in the Championship.
If he picks Lyanco first, and the rest of the team around him, NJ will have my 100% support. Probably just be you and me though tbh
I'd disagree completely. Ever since they've taken over they've been responsible for a **** show. Ralph needed to be binned last year. They didn't do it. They've spent possibly the most we've ever done in a transfer window and completely pissed it away on useless signings (with the possible exception of Edozie) No one, absolutely no one would or should have gone for ****ing Nathan Jones as a replacement. Let's not even mention their constant **** ups off the field with everything from the Itchen debacle, the stewarding, the club shop, to the comments made by the board about how we should be grateful to be in the league. Turning up and sitting their quietly isn't going to get us a striker, it's sure as not going to get us points on the board. As for a reboot? If we go down we are financially ****ed. We won't be coming straight up. I'm beyond raging that we're being force fed this ****e and our fan base just sucks it up. SR are ****ing spivs and charlatans.
