Some keystone cop defending at times but a win’s a win. how many players did we have over 6 feet tall at the end of that? Height is clearly not everything but sometimes I do feel that we lack physicality, especially in the middle - anything in the air and we have no chance.
Some huge positives from the match Virgil looked back to his previous level, much more aggressive, Quick across the ground, commanding. Fabinho, who I've been particularly critical of was much better. Any 50/50 he was there and won more than his fair share, much better. Ox and keita being available, God it would be nice to have just a couple more senior players to xall on. Very good Happy boy
Thought VVD was back to his best, now that he is not playing within himself to go to a World Cup. We need Konate back alongside VVD then TAA will be able to go forward with less risk
I feel when matip/gomes plays, lthe opposition target that side. When big ibu plays they don't bother, let's trent have a bit more freedom.
Poor half, you could see us flagging. No pressure on the ball carrier, gaps here and there. Just really reinforcing again the decrepit midfield area Nunez never gave an out all night which is intensely frustrating cos he was about 4 yards offside most times a channel run might get us up the park. In fairness he never gave up on anything But in the end the young lad did the business of nunez working so that's 3 good points and inly 5 off 4th with game in hand
If he times his runs better and learns to finish he will be fantastic. He is still young and new to the league so there is hope. As he is currently he is a handful for defenders which opens up space for others
Plus better keepers. Think how many players miss the target against us. Keepers like Ali take up better positions so players either hit it at the keeper, or end up trying to go too far wide to avoid the keeper and missing the target. A lot of the times a forward misses the target it’s often said a poor finish which obviously is some what true. But it never takes into account the positioning of the keeper. Hitting it at the keeper and hitting it past the post still give the same outcome most times. I think he’ll be fine. He wasn’t signed to be a star within 6 months. Just have to read what Salah said about him after the game, he’s so dangerous, he stretches play and creates space to make it easier for others. Once he starts timing his runs slightly better and just calms down his finishing, guy will be fine. his pace and power is just brilliant and hopefully see him score a few more headers from corners/free kicks and taa’s delivery.
He's never gonna be a prolific scorer like Torres or the like. He is offside a lot and has little to no composure. However, he is clearly a nuisance to opposition, is very pacey and gets about. At least has chances, I haven't seen him play and thought he offered nothing. So he should improve in time, but I still don't think he's a record goal scorer of any kind.
he certainly has the potential to be fantastic and even now things happen around him and he is nearly always our main threat from open play .
Yeah I think potential is the right word Many a top top striker have a few days like he has had The worry for me will come when he stops getting into positions he currently is doing
Heard a lot of chat about how great Trents pass for the lovely first goal but i also thought Robbos touch was really good to play the perfectly weighted ball to Mo .
Yeah was a good goal that Want to see us playing more controlled one touch stuff like that Joy to watch that goal Not the greatest ever goal but tidy
