OK then, aggressive press in the modern parlance. Didn't someone else describe him as '***an on steroids'. Make that '***in' perhaps?
We created quite a few half chances, but little or nothing clear cut. We gave them three good chances of which they took one
Rattling the woodwork was clear cut. Going clean through and getting fouled in a 1v1 was clear cut. Christie was clear cut, ozan one from the middle of the box that went wide was clear cut and the header Oscar missed was also clear cut. Also the number of free kicks and shots from the edge would expect some to be on target and they weren't. We know Tufan, Longman and Slater can score from there as they have in the past.
That's a problem with the system if we aren't creating but we are. It's a problem with final ball and finishing if we're making them and missing them. Oscar did enough in terms of end product yesterday but we needed to be more clinical and that's individuals, not system or tactics.
There's none, for so many if we win, we've played well and if we don't we haven't. Fans are constantly trying to pick holes, when yesterday we played well, we just missed chances. If people can't see the good amount of progress made in a short space of time, they're blind.
They have a point that we need to turn the draws into wins though. For me it's a question of cutting out mistakes at the back and sharpening up in the final 3rd - but the work that's been done on shape has probably been the focus of the new coach so far as you simply can't concede 3 a game and stay in the league.
That's not going to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a gentle reinforcement of Liams request for the fans to 'stay with us'. Didn't seem much like "1 family" when the North were undermining our own keeper and confidence in our system yesterday.
Of course we do, but our home record was woeful and turning it round was never going to be instant. But we're turning defeats into draws which is a solid start. With a few tweaks in the window those draws can become wins. We're still only 8 points off the play offs too.
It's a closer league even than usual. A mini run could have us 10th as we're 6 points off but if we were currently 10th we'd probably have the ' forwards! ' crowd cacking themselves were only 8 points off relegation even if that were the case. More than half a century ago. And they'd fooked off by the 80s.
