blackpool with 10 men created more than they did with 11

i think the key to football is to get a ****ter sent off

plus our only clean sheet in 57 years came when we had 10 men

    it's the answer

Yesterday (and pretty typically) we had 3 or 4 defenders and two wide players in a pitch wide arc, and slowly and predictably passing the ball from one winger, across the arc, player to player, to the other wide player at the other touchline. Not surprisingly, Blackpool marked the entire predictable procession and we achieved nothing. Occasionally, a pass was played inside and we moved forward 10 yards, before inevitably passing back. Only long balls forward or long cross field passes produced any progress. We had one player in the centre to offer a goal threat. One. This resulted in one shot on target. One. Blackpool had 6. The system we played is not going to win games with one shot on target. Against Sunderland we had 2, and Sunderland had 1, both games against 10 men. Sorry, not good enough. No problem with systems that work, at the moment ours doesn't.

To be fair they didn’t really create it did they, Seri passed one straight through for them and the centre halves hesitated and the other should’ve easily been cut out by Coyle

    Frustrating or what.

What would you do to put things right given the current squad of players available ?

    Genuine question btw.

As per usual there's a massive overreaction on here. Since the winter break we've put in 3 in a row of the best, most consistent performances we have done at this level in a very long time. We're controlling games, we're defending well, we're tough to beat and we're creating chances. Too many people get mixed up between a good result and a good performance. We had more than enough chances to win the game yesterday a few times over, we just failed to take them. And whilst that's clearly a concern, we're a miles better team than we were a couple of months ago.

How Rosey wants to play was always going to take time so I don't understand why after 6 games in charge people are complaining. Anyone comparing him to Corberan's form at WBA is clueless, they have a top 3 squad, it was just being seriously mismanaged.

What I would do is stop undermining the managers system by booing it, keep playing the same way and when we score first in a game we'll probably win it. Then let confidence do it's thing and we'll probably get on a roll - especially with forward/attacking options coming back into contention.

Oscar needs support. Other sides bring the left wide player into the box when the ball is wide right and bring a no 10 into the box as well. I'd try playing Allahyar off Oscar and use his pace through the middle. Also swapping left and right wide players mid game to use their better foot for crossing would create things. Stop mucking around at the back unless it's definitely on and play longer more often. Yesterday we created more for Blackpool than we did for ourselves. What position is Tufan playing? He almost started wide right and was quite effective there.

We need pace to be able to get up and support Oscar. He did well yesterday though, regardless.

We take short free kicks and if we dont concede quickly we pass the ball around defenders before eventually passing back to the goalkeeper who resorts to kicking the ball upfield. It's so predictable.

As predictable as lumping it forward, losing it, coming straight back and getting beat 3 every game?

Liams system we've got points in 5 of his 6 games.

Some fans dont think it's an advantage to cross with a player's stronger foot. They think it's better for a winger to predictably cut inside every time and hope the defenders dont expect it.

Some people think it's best to let a winger decide which foot he's most comfortable crossing it with.

Some people dont realise that defenders love to know that a winger has to cut inside to cross so they can be ready to stop him
A left winger with a stronger left foot finds it easy to run down the wing and then cross in a fraction of a second
rather than run down the wing and realise they cant cross without stopping and cutting back when the defender is ready for it

A winger/wide forwards job isn't just to get to the byeline and cross it though. It hasn't been since the 1970s and the advent of overlapping fullbacks.
