Neither do I, he constantly stops on the left wing to cut back onto his right, and then usually passes it sideways or backwards.
It was a good tackle but what about the easy pass to allayhar, he put too much on it and it went out for a dead ball. He’s l1 standard ht2, you know that
It's probably his defensive/positional discipline that's the issue with him starting. I don't think his technical ability is in doubt, which is why we're bringing him on to try and win games.
That was one of the moments I was talking about where the space had opened up to drive inside, but all we wanted to do was play the telegraphed ball back out wide again. And then he overhit it anyway. I love Coyle and don't agree that he's League 1 standard, but I thought that showed a real lack of confidence and guile.
Every single player over hit/under hit or miss placed a pass today, even seri a couple of times. Coyle isn't going to play week in week out for us in a team that's going to get us promotion, but he's absolutely fine to have as a squad player for us.
You can’t not pick an attacking winger by this defensive positioning deficiencies. We don’t pick greaves because of his attacking abilities
We just don't seem to have a winger who can beat a man. Neither Longman nor Sinik ever do it. Presumably that'll be why we're after Ebowei
I think there's a bit of both comes into both decisions to be honest. Greaves ability with the ball at feet is absolutely part of his game, and Liam. Has already said he wants his defenders to be attackers in posession, and his attackers to be defenders without the ball regardless of position.
Lol Yes they did, but theres tackles and theres tackles that stop what was probably a certain goal or at the least a certain 1v1 goal scoring opportunity. As I say he's not going to be a week in week out starter but he's shown his worth as a squad player in the champ on a fair few occasions this season and last.
Greaves ability with the ball at his feet, the further forward he gets the worse he gets. He’s really not the second coming
Had coyle found that 7yard pass we would have had a scoring opportunity. Your right he’s a squad player at best, until we get to promotion challengers
IMO we didn't play badly, for the first 20 minutes we played some lovely football and created some good chances. What we failed to do was score when we were on top, if we had scored in the first 20 minutes then we would have seen the game out comfortably. The game hinged on 2 things IMO, one not scoring first and two Ingram making an awful decision to play short when he did, coupled with giving them a real lift scoring after being battered for the first 20 minutes. Seri was as good as ever, real quality and him and Tufan clearly have class. I agree with one or two who have said we need a real ball winner alongside Seri, Smallwood type but better, that would be a priority, and with Traore hopefully due to come back, that would make a really good midfield. Woods is okay but should be Seri's stand-in, not playing alongside him. I can see why Liam wants this lad from Palace, as we do need a quick winger who can go passed the full-back and get crosses in. Good to see Oscar get on the score sheet I thought he looked much more himself, pity he was hauled to the ground when through on goal, as scoring then would have been a game changer. Special mention for Coyle, who made 2 crucial plays in the game, the cross for Oscar's goal and the tackle to stop a likely goal was pivotal. At least we are not getting beaten, we are giving away the odd goal by our own mistakes, which hopefully in time will be ironed out. Under Shota that game like in the Sunderland game, we would have probably lost. So progress is being made IMO, but needs to be more threatening when we are on top and cut out poor decisions.
Too many times in the past we've preferred to play right footed players on the left and left footed players on the right I think our managers have seen Man City do it
