If Man Utd are looking to loan out Amad again, we should be back in for him. He showed some great touches today
One thing that does piss me off slightly is us bringing everyone back for defensive corners. I'd like us to leave Amad/Roberts/Pritchard (or one of the quicker technical players) up on the halfway line to keep 2 of their lads back. Not just this year under TM btw. We have done it for a while.
that is why i was thinking as derfensive midfielder, he does not need to be too far forward and also allows wingbacks to be able to join in the attack while he helps shore up defence...i would have doubt also if he was tried as 'the engine room' but we see him every week putting in some solid defence work.
Whilst I completely agree, it seems to be “the way” now. City do it, Liverpool too and most premier league teams and most against us. I think Amad 40 yards from goal would be ideal. Quick, great feet and can turn a random clearance into a chance. But I’m not the manager!!
I'd have him on half way with 2 of their defenders. If Patto claims it we are laughing and in on goal within about 5 seconds. Not having a go at those lads because they are class, but I can't see what Roberts, Amad or Pritch will be doing at a defensive set piece when Batth, Ballard, Stewart, Simms, Alese etc are getting there head in the ball (hopefully)
Just watched JDT post match. He “thinks there’s a push on their player” in the box leading to our second goal. Obviously missed the arm around Cirkin’s throat for their goal!! Hypocrite
The odd time I'd leave 2 of them up there tbh. Some managers these days would **** themselves if we left 2 up from their corner.
Absolutely bloody marvellous today. Some class performances from quite a few. Amad is brilliant - the ball just sticks to his feet and his quick touches are a joy to watch. Raved about him more than anyone today but we're always a great side with Ross playing. Sorry to add a couple of negative points but Patterson is starting to worry me. His save was great today but he's just not commanding enough . Maybe I've been watching too much Pickford but I want to see a goalie boss his defenders. His kicking is also not great. Secondly, support was great today but why on earth are people leaving before the end? Serves them right that they missed a glorious and well deserved win.
Great day today, my son is currently on holiday so my wife was going to take his seat but she didn't feel to clever, flu like symptoms, so I took my late nephew's son to his first match and he was absolutely ecstatic when the winner went in. 7 years old and loved every minute, I think I might have subjected another to the life of a Sunderland fan. Ha'way Ha'way Ha'way
Interesting that the more you see of Patterson the more he worries you, it's the opposite for me. I see him as a safe pair of hands and almost expect him to save penalties he's that good a shot stopper. Agreed that he should be more vocal I like a gobby keeper too. Maybe something that will come with time and maturity.
Patterson exellent goal keeper yes he does kick some strange balls, but reliable, and what was Newcastle radio doing today biased as frig half an hour of bullshit from their supporters but not one of our supporters allowed on, is this the future of their radio station ? well stuff it i say this is all we will get from them being in the top 4 now. great win though now we need to go for a top 6 spot.
I remember when Jack Charlton did this at Middlesborough, he left two up on the halfway line, one wide on the right the other wide on the left, teams had to keep 3 defenders back to cover. It also made it relatively easy for their defenders to clear a ball and turn defence into attack. If I remember correctly Boro stormed the old second division that year, then again they did have the players to make the system work.
