What are we thinking in the Chepstow bumper then? Fingle Bridge? which was mentioned on the forum the other day.

I fancy Galloping Bear in national 11/2.

I hope you're right about bumper, but not about national.

Some good races today , Just A Dime in 210+chepstow , think Numitor might run well in 105 , front runner loves it soft .
The big slog has some interesting types , undefeated in chases , The Galloping Bear , has The Big Dog to worry about , think the Bear has the better chance just !
Ask Me Early also provides opposition, loves the track , but is obviously fragile , so maybe a combo fc with the three !

I’m chancing a few quid ew on Nicky Martin’s Two Amigos @ 33/1 in the Welsh GN at Chepstow tomorrow. An admirable little staying chaser who has run well in this race twice before. He will be off a stone or so lower mark tomorrow than when previously contesting this race and though he maybe vulnerable to some younger progressive types old boys have previously prevailed in this race. Also by flag fall tomorrow I’m sure he’ll have his favoured soft ground. The trainer forgot to enter this one for the race last season so would be a nice little story if he can prevail.

Agreed - but finding it hard to look past The Galloping Bear. Currently good-soft, good in places but heavy rain forecast for Chepstow tomorrow.

I think so. Mr Murphy seems very sweet on Fingal Bridge and he was a very promising 2nd, at Uttoxeter, to a horse the Board boy is full of bullish about. Looks a very hot contest at Chepstow but hopeful Fingle Bridge will prove too classy.

Over at Kempton, people, I do like No Ordinary Joe in the lucky last (3.40). The 6YO son of Getaway has been 2/5 over hurdles, thus far, and looked most progressive when finishing 3rd in the '21 Greatwood Hurdle. Followed that though with a disappointing effort at Ascot (pulled up) and hasn't been seen since. Fitness does have to be taken on trust (that absence is just over a year) but Lieutenant Henderson can certainly ready one to fire first time up. Runs off 134 here and you would have to expect No Ordinary Joe to prove better than that this season.

Meanwhile, in the Welsh National (2.50 Chepstow) the first 3 in the market (at the time of writing) are all 9YOs. However, it should be noted that since 2004 9YOs have a record of 1/93 in the race!!!

That statistic doesn't give me many reasons for optimism.

I know I’m pissing in the wind but I fancy glory and fortune to win the wayward lad at Kempton.
His jumping is suspect at best but could find jumping kempton a bit easier. This horse has an engine but his last performance at Cheltenham would put you off. If he wins, and it’s a big if, he’s in the mix for the Arkle.

Do not shoot the messenger time... got this one a week or so ago but thought I had best wait until it was actually a runner.

Paddy Power Chase, Leopardstown – Donkey Years, third in the Munster National when last seen in October; trained by Eric McNamara.

It is owned by last year’s winning owner JP McManus and it has been punted. The day my mate was told to do it each way the price had contracted from 16/1 to 8/1 overnight. Obviously it does not have race fitness on its side having been 9 lengths plus third in the Munster National and standing in its box for two months since. At the time my mate got this there were 59 entries and it was 35th in the list with 10st 10lb so not guaranteed a run. Now I see that it has got in at No. 23, so I wonder how many of his others JP took out to make sure it got a run. Oddschecker tells me that it is drifting as it was 13/2 at declaration time but is now 9/1 with the sponsors.

Another expensive Gay Smith purchase housed at Jackdaws Castle goes in the next at Chepstow - Saint Davy changed hands for £270,000 after winning a point. This looks quite a deep contest though and I like Evan Williams Secret Plan e/w for the Ruckers.

Best of luck to everyone <ok>
