Amad Diallo was absolute class today - to be fair the whole team played well. We played some great stuff. That move in the second half when Brereton-Diaz was claiming a penalty and we just passed it through them, ending with Stewart trying to chest it into the goal - that would eclipsed the 3rd goal at Reading had it gone in. Getting up at 5am and the 290 mile drive up was well worth it. Time for a few beers now
I always thought our future lay with O/9 in central mid-field and remember not so long ago when few people stood up with you and defended him against the doubters, its great that he has won them over. As Fell has mentioned earlier, he and Sando were terrific as a CD pair, often one or the other being MoM. Like you I still believe he would make it in mid-field as a central holding player with two attacking midfielders either side, Neil and Embo hopefully' but football is all down to opportunity and opinion.
The run out of defence by Ballard second half when he got clipped and brought down was superb. Loved his reaction going mental as well.
Blackburn were cheating spoilers, they should have had at least one sent off, we dominated almost throughout, and we got what we thoroughly deserved . . . . playing some lovely football Rod Stewart made a massive difference, Amad is going to be a hell of a player and Onions already is . . . . and we didn't miss Pritch
You'd assume it would have been Roberts who looked great 1st half but faded. You can see why he's moved about clubs so much - he has bags of ability but has very little end product.
Great day at the match. Team and TM were spot on. Atmosphere 2nd half was great. We MUST start kicking to the south stand 2nd half all the time. Really added to the atmosphere.
It did. When they swapped just before KO I was buzzing. Me and my brother both said it was a boost for us.
Of all the SAFC lads I know, a hundred or more, you're the one I'm most pleased for tonight. You're a joy with your match threads and great crack with your posts ... ... but you're also a bloody good bloke at the matches. Anyone who finds themselves in your company is blessed.
If their striker had shown more interest in trying to play football instead of falling to the floor at every opportunity then they might have stood half a chance. Thought Blackburn were really poor
Did Blackburn win the toss and swap us around? I noticed we kicked to the South second half but missed it if the teams swapped ends fist half. We need to kick towards the home end (whatever it ends up being) in the second half of games.
I agree, love how he can pinch the ball back if he looses it in tight situations without resorting to fouls, few players can do this with any consistency, he is one of them, if Clarke can add this to his game he would not be far behind Amad who is surely heading for a mega career, such quick feet and close control allied to awareness is awesome to watch. Enjoy your tipple mate you richly deserve it.
First half he was untouchable. Second he wasted the ball so much. Still performed great but a touch more calmness would have been amazing. Still going great.
Quick word on the officials - utter garbage again. Missed so many fouls on both sides. The linesman was looking directly at O'Nien when he clothes-lined Diaz(?) and gave nothing. Utter joke
It's ridiculous that a virtual stranger, to the club, should virtually dictate our play ... ... it's great to watch but shows how far we still have to go.
