A very different career path to mine. A year at Penryhncoch, then 2 years at Caernarfon (landing 2nd in the Welsh league and some European action) before landing a top gig at Kidderminster Harriers in the VL North. I got them promoted and then a takeover is proposed... leading to me not being able to sign any players (or even loan them) from middle of June until September. In those leagues most of my players are on one year contracts and need to be moved on when you get promoted. I've got 1 point from the first four games, have 15 players (in total including youth team) and have only used 6k of my 24k wage budget. But still can't sign any players. I'm starting to hate it. Takeover saga still rumbling on and the proposed new owners are mentioning not being happy about how i have the team performing. Seems fair.
Deffo the way to play the game back in the day, I'd usually go Italian lower divisions in some vain attempt to get some smaller team into Seria A and then get tempted by a bigger team and budget if I was doing well. Ethics would go out the window if Sampadoria came in for me then it would all go wrong and I'd end up managing Botfogo in the Brazilian League in some idiotic attempt to win a pot and make a name for myself.
I started at Bolton in FM21, L2 with £40m debt, had to sell players just so I could afford the wages of loanees and freebies and 500k a month payments.
Well things are looking up. Takeover went through and they cleared out 100k of debt (not much left), now in play-off places. Though will add that one player left to join Gateshead, Gillingham have just refused to let me loan Harvey Willtott and a player who was released by Port Vale after warming the bench wont come to me for free as they see my club as too small. Probably not winning Europe just yet.
I realise at this stage it's just me posting about my FM save, I don't care. It's 2025, there's three automatic promotion spots from League Two, we're tryign to clear debt and with 4 games to go the table looks like this: Stress levels are rising.
