Follow up to previous post, pcb replaced and digital display unit but still no go. Plumber trying to speak to supplier and boiler manufacturer but Christmas Eve. No chucking fancy. Thankfully we have family in the area so able to shower and visit in warmth. Won't get fixed until after this weekend at best, after New Year at worst.
I used to be a train spotter - remember the Ian Allan train bibles of the 60's? I know a current spotter who's having more success with his search for a dodo. Steam was the great era back in my childhood. That was replaced by diesel, then it was being electrified - now it's run on hot air. please log in to view this image
OK, went to the butchers to pick up our turkey and trimmings. Its part of a farm shop, so a few last minute essentials as well. Sorted all the animals (stacked up the feed as other than a cursory glance by our daughter tomorrow, thats it until boxing day) then back home early afternoon. Made the stuffing (home grown onions and sage) and got the turkey in the oven about an hour ago. Should be ready for hot turkey sandwiches by about 7.30. Couple glasses of red while getting the stuffing and turkey sorted so ready for a nap now. Season's greetings to all our posters. See you on the other side.
Same to you and all on here. No specific "Christmas" thread and little point in starting one now so I'll use this one. Keep safe and warm all, whether your'e fishing, bird watching or just repairing a boiler........
Absolutely!! Very best regards to all this festive season. We're in a flat near Malaga...surrounded by English and Russian speakers. Keeping very quiet not to be recognised!! Quiet evening after planning to cook a nice steak but too full after lunch today.
Given up on that. As a result our daughter and family and my wife's sister will be seeing more of us than is good for anyone over the next 3 days. Bah humbug!!!
Nollaig Shona to all my fellow Bluebirds. I hope Santa brings us enough points to stay up this season!
Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. Back to business now, though I noticed its a late kick off. Off to sort the animals in a bit and see the new additions to the menagerie. Daughter bought Mrs Remote two Pygmy Goats for Christmas.
We've spent Christmas and New Year at Poole for the last 5 or 6 years. This year's weather is by far the worst we have seen. We have loads of lovely walks around here but apart from a brief trip around Sandbanks and Canford along the promenade on Monday (when the weather was beautiful) the longest other walk has been around Tesco. Wind, rain and deep puddles everywhere are the order of the day. I suspect its no better in Wales. Mrs BfB is talking about returning home early but I think we should leave it until New Year's Day to see in the New Year with our daughter and family. Before the next grandaughter arrives at the end of April. The other influencing factor is that the bloody heating in our flat is still not working. Not heard from the plumber since Christmas Eve. We've borrowed an electric heater so have a bit of warmth as well as when we cook dinner. No tele in the bedroom so cuddling up there not an option until bedtime. Happy days. Of course if we went home today I could possibly sneak away to Cov tomorrow night. Wonder if Mrs BfB would notice.
Bonus this morning. Usually have a couple of McVitie's chocolate digestives with my coffee about 11 every morning. Today there were three left in the pack so I went for it.
